Large git racing (Ian Cutler, our FLA correspondent) teamed up with Saretta in Deerfield beach, Florida this weekend holding the Union flag high with pride attaining a first place in 'one design' (V24)!

Cool result from the spunky Brits:banana: and just look at that sticker!:pirate:

As I said, the eras bold italic in the bm logo is well bastardised, you'd do way better just using the 4048 pixel PSD file i sent, as it's exactly right in all respects.

Nice one Rowg,

How embarrasing for "John (Butty) Burden" and Co.

Hey, yours is a proper boat cos you can stay over.

Impressive looking bit of kit that, how do you find her?

Rogue Wave

regrettably it's not mine but I can wish! It's an 8,5 metre Scorpion

i have stayed overnight on my 6.5 metre Scorpion but that was cos I got stuck on the fkkn mud coming out of Aslett creek. and had to sleep on the foredeck

It was a good day all round when that picture was taken. I think it was the first Drivers Wharf poker run.

The more embarrassing part of the picture isn't who has broken down it's who is on the RIB throwing the salvage rope!

Well Ashlett Creek can be troublesome at times, theres a sandbank at the entrance.

So who is throwing the salvage rope then?

And further more, who tuned the engine of "Extreme it too"?

Never understood why john went for a black and pink rinse chequered effect on that boat. ;)

OK, OK, I threw the rope!

But,... any responsibility for that motor, and it's state of tune/reliability, went way, way out the window when Tony sold it to John Burden, and technical support fell under 'Fred' the electrician!

Let's not forget, when under the control of 'Team Extreme', that motor ran faultlessly for three seasons, set two national speed records in class (one of which still stands) and won every single national points race of '95 and '96, (admitedly the '95 season had little competition for us) and only got beat in the very rough '97 season by 1 point by an excellent rough water boat......then 3 years later Mr Burden bought it, the rest is history and a great shame!

The end.

Whad'ya mean, tetchy! :lol:lol: :argue: :seaman:

Thought when I first saw the title of this thread that my mother had made the big time - 90 years old and all that but it turned out to be boat stuff after all.

Interesting though, when otherwise reliable engines are turned over to new 'experts" they often seem to go down the tubes. An example (in addition to Jonson's), the engine(s) in the Thunderbird Pro Vee boat ran relatively faultlessly due to meticulous adherence to the engine builder's maintenance and instructions over the 4 years that the boat raced. We followed the same schedule when we put the race engines in our corporate hospitaity boats. Oil change every 10 hours, strict start procedure for the blower motor (ignition off - bump motor over on starter - hit starter for 10 seconds with ign. off to circulate oil around engine. Ign on - don't pump throttle) and viola, engine starts. We were told that at 100 - 150 hours to send the engine back to be 'freshened' which we did. It never missed a beat.

To get back to the Pro Vee motor, the new owners of 'Thunderbird (now Thundercoast of Finland) decided that the services of the engine builders were only partially necessary. Evidently they found some 'experts' in Finland. Now the Finns are good at drag racing and do seem to know something about big blocks but the performance of 'Thundercoast' in the 2004 series has been unsucsessful (and that's being kind) due to engine failure.

The moral of the story - well you can work it out.

Jon Fuller
11-10-2004, 11:52 PM
The Motors(s) in T-Bird certainly were looked after the way we'd all love to able to (without any financial restraints) and always looked/sounded fantastic, the fellas from Express do a wonderful job, the pics of Tony's new Nor Tech motors say it all.

How did they get on with the repairs on the Cougar following it's 'coming together' with the sailing boat last year? It looked pretty serious!

well...Mr Fuller.....did you know the latest of the movement of the APBA? Supercat no longer exists and neither does one design! big changes for 2005..

Although the trophy on the pic was obviously made before the event, we've been moved into Production!!.........but the flag tells the real story which after a discussion with my prized and talented team mate, Mr Cutler himself, many times champion and intrepid sea soldier.....we are infact APBA National Champions...so dont forget to have a drink on us........

::dizzy: :brown:

and the boat is currently at BAM Marine being worked on for the Worlds in Key West.......not bad for a couple of brits on foreign turf init??? now we're planning on the double... cant do the triple unfortunately cos the Europeans doesnt exist:cry:
