I spent yesterday with John Kennett on one of his Displays, gave a hand here and there, but was probably more of a hinderence than a help, but enjoyed it immensely all the same.

Big 'J' had to run the 18 minute display manually (via the electronic control system) as the pre-programmed script failed to run when asked, but other than the initial few seconds delay as he took over command, I had no idea it wasn't running as planned! A very spectacular and impressive display it was too!

I have to say, next time I walk away from a large firework display, I'll be thinking of the poor buggers that have to go round clearing up the unbelievable mess that a display of this size leaves behind! And walking round a dark, cold Rugby pitch picking up scraps of cardboard n paper can be pretty tedious.

Thanks very much to JK for showing me behind the scenes of a major firework display.

;) ;)

He'll have to work his fingers pretty quick to operate the injectors @4000rpm!

Of course of he was out with David B at the time he'd be OK with such a brilliant mechanic on board!

Good to hear you had such an excellent night out - we were treated to an amateur version with our next door neighbour who's a bit of a sparkler prefect. 45minute display with a shadow figure leaping around in the smoke with a lit taper setting fire to things (himself at on point last year  ) One of the spent rockets landed on the booze table, smashing a bottle and glasses, but no casualties :bang: We reckon it was from another neighbour trying to out-do us!

Great stuff, not a public liability insurance policy in sight.

JF I guess it was a bit more spectacular than the last time you spilt a diet coke on your Barco

As I've explained earlier in this thread, I went to see how it's done at a big pyrotechnic display last week with JK. I also mentioned that JK had to run the thing manually, when at the last minute the electronics let him down.

I managed to get some video on the night, which I've digitised, and posted here so you can appreciate the dedication Mr K puts in to his work!

Take a look

No I knew about it yesterday I'll get the scrap cars from the front of the house before the weekend. Manning is threatening to come down with his tribe so I wont be drinking much!
