Nice boat but i recon your trailer is a little small:D
Captain Chaos

did you pilfer that trailer from one of ya 14's?
That first pic looks more like a slipper than a boat!
Looks like a calm water boat to me. Ive never seen such a shallow draught hull.
Please give me some tech specs on this boat so i can decide whether or not its worthy of being displayed on this Forum. . . .

the boat isn't as far back on the trailer as it looks, the bustles extend a fair way beyond the transom, so moving it fwd 12-18 inches would probably be plenty

this is correct, 18" as i recall on the last one we did.
the engine only protrudes about 3" past those rear pads.

Hi Gav, I've had mine over 10 years now so that must say something. (and before you lot comment it's not because I can't sell it ) Last summer it ran at 61mph (gps) with a full tank and 5 adults on board. That was with a 2.5 Merc (carb) and 21'' laser, which I don't think is bad considering it's a very heavy boat. I'm thinking of changing the under floor 165 litre stainless fuel tank for a smaller plastic/fiberglass one to lose some of the weight, can anybody reccomend a good supplier?
Gav, I'll take those pictures of the interior for you when I can get my arse in gear.
Are you going to put the vent in your hull ?
I still looking for the inner mouldings for an alien hood if anyone can supply them.
Cheers Mike,
I'm going to run it without the vent in place for a while and see how it performs, then at a later date i might fit it up and see what difference it makes, be good one day to get together and try eachothers to see what the difference actually is............
I have used a 166 ltr ally tank and running with 200 mariner, need to get a prop is the 21" a good all round?

The 21'' Laser works fine. It's pulling 6100 and I use a 21'' High five for skiing.
My old 2.4 pulled 6500/6600 all day long but I don't know what I can safely max at on my 2.5. Is your 200 2.4 or 2.5 ?. Any mods ?
I need to know what the competitions running

i rev my 2.5 200 to about 6400. it seems ok. i don,t keep it there for long runs about 8mins max. i,m told that much above that you should pre mix your oil. also your pistons may detonate. look on screamandfly there lots on this

they perform in the rough:up:

Kiwiracer, hi, what hp and weight is a v8 johnson!
when you say was a bit of a handfull do you mean the boat gerally or the fact it had this V8 on it?
I was suprised that it performs well in the rough.
The signature is not a very photogenic boat so it is quite deceving, it looks very very shallow like a lake boat but infact is quite the opposite!
Any other info you have to share is much appreciated........
Cheers

Just found this , sounds like your boat Mike K???
'No Fear'
I bought No Fear back in 1994, she
had led a hard and abused life and
was badly neglected and in need of a
lot of tlc (indeed I spent a day
scrubbing and cleaning her before she
was presentable enough to take home).
The first time we saw this design of
boat was back in 1990 at Thorpe Park
on one of the Sportsboat Magazine's
demo days. We blagged a test run as a
potential customer and were
astonished at her performance but
never dreamt that one day we would
own one.
She is an Australian designed Haines
Signature 1900s built under licence in
the UK by Shetland Boats, with a
length of 21' and a beam of 6'6". The
engine is a Mariner 200 with a 23" High 5 prop used for general use and a 19" Laser 11 for skiing. She has seen plenty of 'action' on lakes, rivers and the coast and has handled all that was thrown at her very well. The shape of the hull gives a stable but firm(ish) ride at slow speeds but softens the faster you go, and she corners as if on rails.
This year we trailed her down to The Mar Menor (La Manga) in Southern Spain along with Wayne Kerr and her crew and had the best holiday ever, sun, sea, sangria and good company, an excellent combination.
I can't see us parting with No Fear, unless you know of anyone who wants to swap a 23' Phantom with a 300 strapped to the back !!! To save on prop changes I am selling the two props that are mentioned above to finance a new 21" High 5. If anyone is interested please get in touch.

Cool, whats the schedual in the bottom of the hull and you have any idea what the bare boat weighs? Not important just curious!
I tried Scott Bader for the derakane, they dont do it but can get it @ min. quantity 100kg
It's not important either, if you think of anywhere that might do it could you let me know. Thanks.
The resin is Dow Derakane 8084-P, I want to skin coat the entire boat before I recore it and put in the transom. So I'll probably need about 10kg
Thanks Alan

The 2100s has been used a lot over here in offshore racing they seem to go quite well but to be honest the haines hunter constant deadrise hulls i.e 1800so & 2100so have been more sucessfull than the variable deadrise hulls but i dont know if you would have any of them over there. I suppose we do more smooth water stuff over here so the boats with large planks on them are popular.Having said that I have driven a 2100s with a 2.4 bridgeport on it and saw about 70 over anything you could throw at it !

Great info!
To me the 2100s 's hull, although similar to the 1900s, looks very nice, however the deck moulding is boring and would need modernising! Combining the looks of the 1900s with the 2100s would be interesting i think..........

Yeah the 1900s is very sexy in the deck dept a lot like my Bullet hull. The 2100s has a pretty boring alloy framed screen. Sounds like you are the man for the job Gav you dont happen to have a 2100s mould lurking over there as well do ya ? If not I know where there is one over here you might have to have a holliday to Aus !!!!!!

Leave it out Lanky.......Imagine how cool i'd have looked, picture the scene:
I roll up to the boatpark in Essex, my freshly prepared Tangerine Beast slips softly from its 'old gold' metalflake trailer into the crystal clear waters that is the thames estuary.
With a gentle sweep of the incoming tide; the floating phalis turns side-on to reveal its name whilst Capt Chaos starts the motor. The roar of the 225 horses encased in its onyx black cage draws yet more attention from the unlooking crowd.
With the big motor purring, Chaos pumps up the sound system, unleashing a bit of Nile Rodgers or 'yes sir, i can boogie'........Then, without warning, he drops the hammer; placing his size 10 kippers firmly on the big red GO button!
And off they head, wind in their hair.....together Slug & Chaos.
Have i changed your mind?
