Fantastic shots Graham, on a classic theme I came across an advert in I.O.W. showing Snoopy the magnum for sale at £15k.

I had the pleasure running her around Guernsey a few years ago, what a great hull.

Would she be legal for any marathon classes

That boat has earnt it`s place in offshore by finishing the roughest ever CTC in 1971 when it came in 8th overall and 3rd in class behind HTS and Unohoo.

Snag is ,it`s single engine job,so a red line line through that.There weren`t many twin engine inboard magnum 27 rigs.A couple in the U.S.
For multiple engine you went clip on.Snoopy was one of the rare sedan racing magnum 27`s.

London - Monte 72

Zoom 28ft Riva 2 x Thermo Electron (petrol)= 700hp (1st in class,2nd overall)
Miss Sweden 28ft Magnum 2 x Volvo = 400hp (ret Channel Is)
Nautiford 28ft Senior Marine 2 x Ford Sabre = 500hp (2nd in class,4th overall)

Round Britain 84

25ft Revenger 2 x Mercruiser = 520hp
28ft Hunton 2 x Iveco = 540hp

So take your pick.It has been done with the above combinations.

2 x Yanmars = 520hp have been fitted to a 28ft rib but maybe it wasn`t as narrow as a Magnum 27.

That `Zoom` with 2 petrols based on American engines which came 2nd in Monte just shows what can be achieved.Some reports say it was 27ft.Food for thought.

H1 up to 18 litre petrol/18 litre diesel

[you can't run more than 25% more capacity than originally installed]

I reckon it'd go pretty well with a single Cummins QSB480 on an NXT leg...

Incidentally, the price includes a new trailer worth £3k... so you can justify the expediture to the Mrs by pointing-out that it's a bargain at £12k

A comment re a single engine jobby.

As far as I can make out the only single engine jobs doing marathon racing are My Pleasure II & the rib Barny (which dumped it`s driver overboard).
As I understand it,you need 2 engines one of which can be an auxilary for some smaller and historic class catorgories,but that auxiliary has to be capable of pushing the boat long at 5mph for a min of 35miles to get you home.
Can`t figure out how My Pleasure II with it`s single Yanmar got round this,as from the pic attached cannot see provision for an auxilary clip on or an auxilary piece of sterngear,mind you he does hug the coast a bit when racing.

If you went single engine,does one want the business of having a deadweight clip on and fuel(in the case of single diesel),or even extra drag of sterngear even if one did managed to fit an auxilary inboard,or by some cunning gearbox/v drive arrangement connected to the auxilary.

Maybe this is the reason no one has gone this route.

It is good to see continuing interest in Ja-Conja and pictures. We have owned her since 1990 and currently she is on land at Ramsgate, planning to take her to London for the summer. We were thwarted last year by the weather from attending the COPOC Cowes-Torquay anniversary rally. Recent picture in the snow attached.
