Well you gotta be over 12 to start with and to be honest I don't think there's an age limit but the K1000 (P16 racing) is 30.
now you don't want to be whooped by the juniors???
Oh BTW the fletcher runs with a standard Yammie 40HP 4 stroke too

40HP:aaahhh: Jeez they cant be too quick then, are they standard fletchers or lightweight specs?

How fast dya think a 12 year old should go then??
Standard fletcher 14GTO, but currently there is no weight specified as this year will be their first year.
On Windemere last year they got about 34MPH with that type of engine and about 35 with a 2 stroke Merc, with water speed giving a faster feel anyway I think that's fast enough for kids.
When the kids hit 15 they go up to a P16 with a 60Hp 4st Merc (1L) and they do on average 44MPH, don't want to frighten them off too quick do we.

I think you'll find it hard to find anything but 'lightweight' Fletchers!
The good quality stuff from Fletcher dried up years ago after Norman Fletcher sold up.
Who remembers the Arrowshaft 25?
I had a 21 Arrowbolt, which was quite a nice boat, but the hull and deck was stapled together (no bonding):aaahhh: and that was a '78 boat (I owned it in '85), I don't think things got any better! (sorry Chaos)

That would be great if you are in a position to do so, as a club we've got 1 and fletcher are putting up a 'works boat' too, plus we got 2 more private ones. We've got the kids just need the boats.
With the venues we got for this year we're even introducing a Le Mans type start, pit laps etc so lots going on. The calander is on the web site, sorry no thoer pics though.

Well, i,ll have a think about this, what about engine? i couldnt supply engine aswell. Would i have to donate a boat or would it remain my property:confused:
Whats the class and boat size if i wanted to start racing? i am 33 :frown:
Thanks Gav, just sent PM to you.
Cheked out the 'ole boat test' looks great shame we didn't know about them at the time we looked at the mid range class though.
Gav, thanks you're an inspiration shame the manufacturer of our class hasn't got the original mould, they're doin a plug at the moment.
If we open the class up to other models I think the Seaquel would be the only other option.
Cheers.
Well if it ever does open up be sure to give me a shout!
PS Try and suggest an upto 40yr old class:drain: :drain:

My fecker was made by hornby!
and its prob not as well built as my previous arrowstreak.
I always liked the zingaro, arroshaft and 238...........but i'm a tw4t!

I've had mine ('92 Arrowflyte) since new.
Bad points:
Dashboard 'Sticker' peeled off at the edges.
Sidescreen cracked after a hard landing.
Front seat to floor fastenings rusted away, resulting in observer rolling back down boat c/w seat when we accellerated to go back for skier! :D
Good points:
No rattles (ever)
No gel cracks or crazing
Floor still sound. (despite boat mostly used for skiing, so floor always soaking wet!)
I never wanted a Fletcher, but this one was there for a good price at the time. Would I buy another? Definately.
Gav, the Fletcher guy I spoke to at the boat show said that they were going to start making the 14 again purely for this race series & had no plans to sell to the general public. I guess that means the Sequel is now really the only option for someone looking for a new 14 footer.

Zingaro:aaahhh: Thats one ugly pig.
The fletchers were definitely popular and not without reason. The arrowbolt was a nice boat (not including the canopied version), as were all the smaller boats. Granted, they werent the best built boats, but they were affordable and good handling.

Boat was an '82
Engine was an '83 115 straight six.
Not the fastest in the world, but quicker than all the Bayliners and Maxuums that clog up the local beach.
There were more pics on the 'reader rides' section but Mr Fuller deleted me for being too slow and not posting for a while. :tea:

I'll sell you my wife & kids, but you just can't afford that brochure.
I love the look of these '70's & '80's boats. Not just the Fletchers, but the Pictons, Phantoms, Rings etc. Perhaps it's because they were what I lusted after as a kid. The more rounded 'American' look just doesn't do it for me and as for that cream gelcoat... :puker:
I've got quite a few of these early brochures. I'll post a list & if anyone's interested I'll get scanning. Unfortunately no Phantom or Ring, Doh!
Captain Chaos

Will you take installments?
Well I have got some ring stuff and some phantom AND some picton....but sadly NOT the nemesis!
I would consider some swapsies......BUT:
I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT THAT FLETCHER BROCHURE.........as its a boat i've avtually had.
I have brochures for pretty much all the stuff we've ever had bar that!

Me too....Datelines, Crusaders, Concorde blah, blah, blah.....metalflake Glastrons......Alans Hydrostream etc. anything retro looking really.
I guess you could almost call them classics but I doubt that the proper classic brigade would recognize them as their not wooden or aluminium.

A good idea....a sort of history section.
Formula have a link from their site to all their old brochures don't they.
