I have a Mercury XR2 there’s nothing wrong with it but I would like a manual similar to the Hayes ones you see in Halfords for cars. Could anyone recommend one that is specific to the XR2 or if not one that contains the most information about the XR2 engine the only ones I have found so far are these not sure what to get

I think my engine is newer than 89 but I may be wrong?
Anyone got a second hand one for sale or even better an electronic scanned one ;)
Why not just get the factory service manual, they're pretty cheap?

Post a pic of the power head from the port side and I should be able to tell you if its 80's, early 90's or 95 on.

This is a 2.4 block. 2.4's were made up to about 89/90 ish. Note the shape of the block within the nice oval I went to the trouble of drawing on it. :)

This is a 2.5 block. 2.5's were made from 90/91 ish. Again note the shape of the side of the block within the drawn on oval compared to the above 2.4 block. :)

Again a 2.5 block. Note the arrowed flat squares cast into the block. These arrived on the unpainted high performance blocks in 95. I dont think they were ever on the painted non race motor blocks.

The 2.0litre XR2 motors are sleeved down 2.4 or 2.5 high performance blocks depending on their age. So the same three identifying factors apply. :)
