Been done before - but thought I would add this one of Mel and Andy Wilby in one of our RIBs.

Great shot by Gingerpix.

Maybe it's something to do with the yellow tubes!

I took this one last Summer. Not as much air as the other pic, but he was probably only going half the speed.

Little Pete

that first pic was of andy wilby showing off, and he almost flipped it trying :jaw:
Later that season he did a jump simlar to that one and hooked it straight infront of me and fabio Berrow

Anyway me and andy have had words about that in the pub and straightened things out,

plus he's got a bigger boat than me this year so he might run me over

If you look closely you can see that the engine hatch catches have come undone, typical Pascoe cant stand the sight of gastly duck tape.

when you do jumps in cars over bridges etc, throttle control can effect the cars landing and balance, keep it planted and it lands arse heavy, too much nothin and you land on yer nose.. so what you guys do in ur boats if the green is heading towards the windscreen:jaw:

Works on the Bike for jumps, Open the throttle in the air if nose heavy, front will rise. Nose high dab the rear brake. Pull on the bars helps. Gyroscopic twaddle waffle whatever, It works, Dont Fink I't will work on a boat though. All landings hurt it's just how much !!!!!!

Jon Fuller
25-02-2005, 07:34 AM
Agreed, all the work has to be done before/as you lose contact with the water....after that, you're just a passenger!

Ice Kiddie
27-02-2005, 04:04 PM
OK - there was an interesting post on da toob site (http://www.rib.net) a while ago...

I think it was fjordrafting that said after the failure of his contra rotating Evinrude, that the left hander is always weaker then the right hander.

Whadda ya reckon?

And how is the reverse gearing achieved? Surely this could/should be enginerered to be just as durable as the standard right hander? Or do Bombadier/'rude just do shite left handers?

Matt
27-02-2005, 04:32 PM
Certainly a different gear takes the load in forward than reverse, except for some engines obtain the contra prop by reversing by running the engine backwards. As to whether one way is weaker than the other, I dunno really, you'd like to think when they designed the reverse rotation gearbox they designed it to be just as strong. I have heard if you run a normal o/b gearbox in reverse to get the contra rotation that it's a lot weaker.

Jon Fuller
27-02-2005, 10:48 PM
with OB's I reckon it's a little weaker, but bravo's are not bothered which way you run them. (there isn't a left n right, they'll run either way)

kiwiracer
27-02-2005, 11:11 PM
i ran twin Evinrude Vindicators on my catamaran for two seasons and the counter rotating gearbox was actually stronger than the right hand one.
i now have twin 2.5EFI Mercs with sportmaster boxes and also have a counter rotating one and have no problems

Here's a really old air shot. This is my Grandfather, Bert Shead in Inertia in the Cowes Torquay in 1964. The boat was a Levi design built in wood by Clarkes in Cowes with a pair of straight six volvos ran about 45 miles an hour. This design was later used as the smaller of the Trintella boats. Got loads more of this stuff that I will have to scan in.

Jon Fuller
04-03-2005, 03:53 AM
Yeah, there's the B28, Awsome! but not too practical when it comes to mooring up etc.

You have to run in a large Mannerfelt boat to believe it, they defy physics

Obviously you donīt know the story about the Swedish Magnums
Don Aronow sold his white Maltese Magnum and rights to build them plus a mold to and apparently also the lamination process to Tage Boghammar and from those same molds have those boats materialized.
I see nothing wrong with that,
The High-Tech 1.editon Story is totally different, they splashed a 38 Cig Hawk and named it different got cought and sofort.
Moved then to Florida and started Nor-Tech...yes that one.

After all the rant you Jon have had of the US boats I think IÂīll have to look for a Progression or then something European,
(British, Scandinavian or Italian.)
Was it so that Flying Flipper had a quite success in Britain although not here locally?

Was it so that Apache also had the same fault as the Cigs & co.
Apache prolly is the only proper boat, ok Formula too but I donÂīt like the looks of a Formula that much although they are probably the best of the best.
Funny when you think all these boats had Aronow something to do with.

I know the boat, but we havenīt been able yet to encourage it out of its hiding place. Maybe this year, though!.
I run my boat on the Rhine river mostly. Great landscape ( if you go slow enough to see it!) and (just like the autobahns) no speed limit.... and the most incredible waves and curves you have ever seen. A real powerboaters dream.
The waves are created by the numerous passenger and freight ships that sometimes appear in packs of four or five. Sort of like moving chicanes. Do you go left or right...... and the the waves, sometimes up to a mile after the ships. Iīm talking AIR, big time!:shag:
The poker run at the start of june runs through the famous Loreley valley. You wonīt find a finer location anywhere in the world....the river is very challenging to drive... and then put 50 - 60 powerboats running with open exhausts in the picture, and the spectacle is complete.

So you have a need for driving instructors for Porsche?
I have two topskilled professional Racing drivers as a friend, plus myself ( A Truck operator/racer myself)

not even close...look at the running lists... theres only two per side and the last ends in midsection.
argos have 4 per side.
Plus thisone looks slimmer than an Argo IMO, might say its a Tintorera/o (?) 21 or bigger.

The Bladerunner's engines were removed and delivered to 'springbok mick' for work on them - who has since dissappeared!

If anyone knows where springbok Mick is, Please tell!

I am waiting for a decision on the purchace of a new boat. If successful, then the Bladerunner will be part payment/deposit on the new boat. If the new boat does not come to life, I will concentrate on rebuilding the Bladerunner. - Cookee will help me with the wiring which is shyte, and Mr J will help me with the stearing system and engines ( If I get them back from Springbok Mick! )

Finally - The V24 is waiting to see if a deal can be made for a new engine, or if the old one has to go back in. There are bits of the current engine that are rusted in place, and it still has starting problems - So I may need to add a truck battery to the boat to help the starting!!
