View Full Version : Water Pressure gauge
I`ve fiited the jack plate and will be looking to get a water pressure gauge. Just a quick question though, what should this gauge go up to in terms of PSI (ie 15-20???)to fit on a 135?
Cheers:cheers:
Thanks for the plates dan they look the tits will fit them this weekend and put sum pics up
Cheers
Yeh, I seen it but know what PSI the engine should reach:cheers:

No. its fine at all speeds.
check to see if you have any play in your midsection or maybe air in your steering
you could try replacing the pipe first because it might have a blockage in it. cheaper than buying a new guage or better still connect a footpump upto the guage and see if it reads the same when you pump
Last time i took it out before i blew the prop off over 70 was scary but im hoping that it was just da crap prop i had on there
Prob just change the impellor and hope its that cheers burty dude
Whats been done to your engine dude i think u told me but i forgot

if you have hydraulic steering then it wont make any difference.
not sure whats been done to my engine, had a quick look looks like some light portwork on rod slots and i've fitted a 1" intake spacer. Running on a A5 which is the later digital ecu with an offshore map in it
What about those sliders ave heard they can really increase hp!

sure they give much better throttle response but not a great deal more power unless other things are done to the engine too
More air more fuel more power dude!

how are you getting more fuel dude?
as i said give more power if you have other things done too ie. modified ecu
If i wanted to go another step id get the bigger regulator and a slider

The race motors such as the 2.5OS or XR2 run about 15 PSI because they dont have any thermostats or a poppet (pressure release) valve. The non race (fishing) motors do have these so run more water pressure, up in the 20 to 30 psi range. 0 to 35 PSI seems to be the norm for a water pressure gauge on mercury outboards.
A slider/shutter fronty end will give more power on a standard engine but will be even more beneficial on a tuned motor.
The 1 inch intake spacer is a good easy to install cheap mod if your still running the center horn front end.
