you think so??

I know you can chip up car diesels thinking VW golf 1.9 tdi 110 or 115hp can be chipped quickly and cheaply to 150hp

I have a bmw 3.30d 183hp someone told me i can get that chipped to 210ish easily

and it doesnt hurt the mpg or reliabilty!!

how is this done? is it just the electronic management system?

Marine apps are a different ball game, full, or near full power for long periods, cars rarely get anything like the same hammering

so you think squeezing an extra 100 ponies out of the kad 300 is a bad idea!! ??

All Cigarette Top Guns are 38 footers. Top Gun is a Cigarette model name. Built from 1987 to current.

Here are few for sale in the USA today.

Im trying to post photos of some brand new Top Guns straight from the paint shop lastweek, but can't. Can anyone help with that?

And the boat in the ad at Atlantique Boats for this Cigarette Top Gun is not the actual boat they have for sale, if im correct they are using the photo from the companys website. Here it is. It may have the same paint sceme though.
http://www.cigaretteracing.com/boats/boat_main.htm

I don't believe there is a difference between the 2002 and the 2004 TG (top gun) hulls.

Corrado

This is the boat they are using in the ad.

I believe the top gun in Norway is not a Florida built boat !!

but a Swedish built Hightec 3900 version

So in my book not a true cigarette ??

Top Gun is a 38Cig,however there have been a small few 35 TG and I believe one 42 TG.
The old 36 is a wide body

This TG in the ad had to be made for the euro market...
It has Volvo's,Diesels, side exhaust, and a completely different cabin than I have seen before. This is not produced in the American market.Top speed 57 knots?can you say sllooowww

So you cant tell on build quality etc which is what the cig name is all about!!

bit slow but could you justify twin 500's at $7.70 a gallon ??
or diesel at $2.60 with twice the economy ??

cashbrain
18-05-2004, 05:06 AM
I agree with you...fuel cost is a major factorand I could not justify$7.70 a gallon.

Admiral P. Brain
18-05-2004, 05:20 AM
although your gas costs are going up pretty quick at mom?? could get a lot worse!!!

cashbrain
18-05-2004, 05:33 AM
Everyone is freaking out at $2.20 a gallon for fuel..my guess is the gas docks will be $2.75..very expensive for here

Here is the configuration of a Top Gun...

Even the cockpit is diffent in the one in Norway.
I wonder if the boat was shipped unrigged to Europe and finished there...

So,that boat is a knock off??

Corrado
18-05-2004, 01:29 PM
I would agree with cashbrain, either it was sent to Norway unrigged. or Possibly custom built in Florida of the client.
But im almost 100% certain that Cigarette Racing USA only builds its boat in the USA. The hulls that is. Ofcourse we know the are quite a few very nice Cigarettes running around Europe and behond.

Corrado
18-05-2004, 01:47 PM
Ok, Ok. I think I can guess what this boat really is, Cashbrain help me out here.:D

If is a true, real Cigarette built on thunderboat row.
However it's is not a 2002 model. I maybe wrong. the Hull ID should verify this.

But what your looking at is an older Cig Top Gun perhaps that has been refitted and re-rigged in 2002 there at Hightec. Because the I don't see steps and the way the deck looks it looks like a 90's top gun.

In the USA we see ads like this all the time. People have the older boat re-rigged then they use that year in their ad, kind of leaving out the real hull manufacted date. Common.

That's not to take away from the boat at all , it looks like a real nice boat for sure. Hull ID should verfiy its real age.

its maybe a 90 thru 98 Cigarette top gun re-rigged in 2002.

I just looked at a nice Pantera like this. He called it a 2004 in the ad because it was re-rigged and totally redone in 2004, but the boat was really a 1984. You could not tell what year it was. ad said 2004, but after talking to the seller he said it was indeed a 84. He wasn't tring to faud anyone it was just how the ad was worded.

Call them and ask them, they might honestly not know, sure looks like a cig to me.

I learn something new everyday.

This was posted on offshorepowerboat.com

38KV: posted

This boat have nothing to do with a Top Gun.
Hi-Tech 3900 was as far as I know a copy of the older Cig 39'
Not a bad boat at all, but not a Top Gun.
Hi-Tech was located in Lysekil, Sweden in the early 90's
Their program was:
Hi-Tech 3000, a 28' version a of a Cig Bullet
Hi-Tech 3900
Hi-Tech 5000 a 50 footer that I think was their own mold

The company moved to Florida in 92 and changed name to Nor-Tech.

very interesting.....! amazing what information can be found out..

do most people prefer the new stepped hull or the older non step.

I know a step can improve speed but make handling different but what about rough water capability/ride comfort??

Personally,I like the traditional non-stepped hull..it's slower, but, more predictable and stable...

If the boat is a High-Tech 3900 it can't be a 2002 since those where made between 1990 and 92.
I think it is a copy of a copy (splashed High-Tech), or a hull from the early 90's rigged in 2002.

It is not bad boat, not at all, but it is not a Cigarette
A 1990 3900 with supercharged 454's is for sale here Sweden and that guy is asking € 60,000,
so I think the €140,000 pricetag is way to high as well.

I can't belive they're selling that boat as a true Cigarette.

Admiral P. Brain

I know I told the broker about mis-selling the name the other week... he hasnt replied...
It appeals due to the newdiesel engines (petrol's too expensive here!!) although unsure how reliable these would be tuned up so much??
