The red one I'm selling is an 88/89 (34B, I think) But I have an 87 P20 too which I'm keeping as it has just been rigged by CYCO with a 260 and lots of shiny bits. No name as yet though, any ideas?
Jon Fuller

there is a bit of a delay on my camera from when you press the button till when it takes the photo.
its fluke if you get a good photo of a moving object

Burty, nice speed, works out bang on 12% slip. Is it the boat in your avitar?
What's been done to your engine?

I find, if you're taking pics of a boat tearing up and down, or mebbe taking pics of a race, if you can get in a position were the boats pass at roughly the same distance from you each time, then manualy set the focus for that distance, switch off auto-focus, and snap away, that works best for me. trouble with the 'hold button halfway' bit is, by the time it's finished pissing about deciding on a focal lenth, the boat's long gone
JamesM
17-05-2004, 04:08 PM
Here's one burty took in manual focus :D
My boat again, yay!!!

Yes, it is the boat in his avatar!!!
The motor has tighter heads giving it about 145lbs compression, thats about as much as you want if your running on pump gas. It also has the two stage reeds a cross drilled inlet manifold from an XR2 and he's not running an airbox anymore. Larger main jets have also been fitted.
That 26 chopper is not standard either, its been thinned out and probably had some other stuff done to it but I dont know much about props so.....................
:)
All this talk about fast boats reminds me of these, have a look at these pictures taken at last years Ski racing Championship's in Long Beach (LA)
21ft Bernico built by Nico Bertels
http://arweb.co.uk/aralbums/boaters/ce30_worlds_water_ski_racing.sized.jpg
21FT Connelly single engine with twin outdrives

http://arweb.co.uk/aralbums/boaters/ce36_worlds_water_ski_racing.sized.jpg
Now for something special again 21ft with 2 small blocks, used to tow a lady skier, does have 2 big blocks when more speed is required, well over the 100 mph

How about this for a fast boat!!!
Its the all alluminium 67 meter (220 feet) jet powered Destriero!!!
It holds the transatlantic speed record covering the 3,106 miles from New York's Ambrose Point Lighthouse to England's Bishop Rock Lighthouse in 55 hours without refueling. Averaging 53 knots for the entire trip, the sleek luxury yacht is capable of top speeds over 65 knots.
:jaw: Whats that in MPH, anybody?

I like the Americans attention to detail.
Just in case the two small blocks don't give enough speed they have a paddle to use as well !

Not much good if you drop it in the sea though is it!!! :D

The yanks certainly pride themselves with how cool they can make a boat look.
I could understand 2 engines and one drive on a deep V hull. But what advantage 1 into 2 has, i'm really not sure?
JamesM
18-05-2004, 09:31 AM
The torque from the contra rotating props will cancel each other out making for a more stable ride :)
Captain Chaos
18-05-2004, 09:43 AM
I apreciate that, but just thought that the extra drag fromt the legs sitting outside of the hull would result in a significant speed loss.
Mind you, all of this is relative to the amount of frickin HP its got....and it don't look like its lacking much!
I agree it looks odd, still it pulled Marty Wells to be the 2003 World champion.
I am told that the 2 rubber tubes on the outdrives sucked in air to give the props some air on pullout, seemed to work well always got a good hole shot
Jon Fuller

All that power through a single drive would be a handfull to say the least!, I'd be there with the twins everytime.
JamesM
18-05-2004, 10:26 AM
Yep, similar boats over here are typically 1200hp, and thats alot!!! :D

Spot on and without lifters they allow you to spin the props up and not bog the engine down, giving better acceleration.
The twin engine boat had a compressed air tank on-board that they used to pump air under the drives, again to allow the props to spin.
I have a picture of the stern showing the outdrives that I will find and post later.

As promised the stern of the twin inboard plus a couple of others, one showing a large support vehicle behind

Tall dark and ugly
24-05-2004, 05:27 AM
sitting one engine infront of the other like in the pictures 3 up, would that not make the boat less balanced.
could you use one engine 2 drives like you can to steer if you had 2 engines 2 drives?
