Is F3 the equivalent to 1.3 litre, ie, 90hp?

Ruby Murry

Yep 2 stoke 90hp

Green 2 Stroke or 4 stroke 115hp

min length 5.6m

I think, but will stand corrected.

Hi Martin,

I think it's just like class III 1.3 - it's not stopped officially, it's just that there isn't anyone entering the class. The only way of reviving it would be to get some others to join in - might be worth starting a little campaign on Ribnet and see what happens?

Got just the boat for that ..

Do get enquiries every now and again about F3 RIBs - but perhaps a case of no one wanting to commit and be the first to say they are going to do it!

would F3 now be F2 as now F2 is F1 :bang:

I think there could be some mileage in a combined 1.3L offshore / RIB class.

It maybe time to think about the rules and it maybe a case of changing the capacities to give a better engine choice. If it was a new National class then rules can be re-written if need be.

One of the things must be to keep costs down and also give a good range of boats competing. I think one of the main reasons that the class (offshore) eventually died was the cost side and the dominance of the last Mannerfelt boat that raced - as originally built for John Miller, expensive boat but too good for the class and the rest of the fleet.

Don't quite know how you would achieve this. It may take some lateral thinking and whislt never wishing to limit development the 1.3l class needs to be affordable and open as far as possible.

Quite easy when you are re-writing the rule book, exclude what you dont want to run. Wont be the last time things get changed to exclude something. It's only paper, not tablets of stone brought down from mount Sinai. If there were people out there competing then 3 years notice but there ain't, So there is IMHO a blank sheet of paper from which to start .

I reckon that a joint 1.3L/Rib class would have some mileage.

Certainly as from my role as chairman of ORDA (Offshore Racing Drivers Association) I'm sure as a club we would love to see such a class forming and would be very supportive.

I would imagine we could work well with the RYA on this - but it does need firm support from likely competitors before we can really progress.

"B4" is an interesting design. You can't have too big a wing!

They are going very fast with that one 68 knots/78 miles!!! They are almost as fast as the Argocats!!!!
They are aiming for 70 knots/80 miles before the session is over.

No I’m not PVN-Racing that is a Norwegian team that is driving a Twister cat.
The boat is not ready yet but I will see if I can find some pictures of it.

It would appear that Norway, Finland and Sweden are the only countries still running 3B.
Having said that South Africa and the Uk (inc the CI) were the only other countries I remember competing at this level.
Were there any others?

Well we managed to beat ALL of the cats in race 2 at the 3C worlds in Norway, and it wasn't that rough because we came 3rd behind 2 batboats! :D :aaahhh:
