Powerboat racing is alive and well,honda have it well organised and are very successful at what they are doing. We raced at liverpool this weekend, my two sons in a honda 225 and me in a 150, in excess of 5000 people watching,national television on channel four and sky tv. The trouble with us english, we knock someone that is doing good, if this was a yankee series it would be the best ever.

I love racing my rib, in fact i will be racing at this weekend at Cowes, but the national fleet of race boats are all over the place and it needs one body to organise them in a better way then they are the moment.

I totally agree with you, the Honda series, seems well run, promoted and supported. I enjoy watching the coverage on the tele.
The only concern would be – what if the boys from the land of the rising sun pull the plug on the sponsorship?
How would the series fare then?
Would racers continue to bounce around in Rings with 4 stroke motors?

ref "land of the rising sun" the funding for the series is not from Honda alone.They put in funding but Cougar helped fund the series in the early days and still do so at some events. F4SA also go hunting for sponsorship. This is made easier by the fact that a big name is behind the series and the organisers do what they promise and have from day one. The racers are obliged to turn up for the events and believe me no big money or prizes are available. ............From one who knows.

The racing seemed very well run at Guernsey, but unless you knew it was going on, it didn't seem very well publicised around the town.
There were very few spectators watching on Sunday.
The Kiwi boys showed the Brits how to do it in the smaller class – very impressive since they had never driven the boat before!!
The big down side to 4 stroke is the lack of noise….a vital factor to get any spectators pulse racing! We were moored a hundred yards from the chicane and could barely hear them!
It was nice to see Lorenzo from Boatmad and Mr and Mrs B who were moored next to us on Saturday night.

Although he was the only 'other' competitor to build a cotton reel racing 'tank' for the boatmad video night last winter!

best bit about racing in Guernsey is the un-leaded is only 64p a litre, diesel is only 54p!!! Bet they all filled up when they finished....
