Interesting about the disqualifications - of which we were one. Missed a mark on the start shute I believe. The shute was the worst I have ever seen in my racing years at Cowes and was doubtful if it was in the race at all as it was not clearly defined in race instructions or the briefings.

Then I see a photo of 'Negotiator' on Ribnet, going the wrong side of Sconce. Strange how they did not disqualify them!!

Don't have any wish to cause trouble but do like to be treated equally.

Just to be clear it was Bembridge not that many will care but it makes a differance to me.:(

I understood the class one was only doing a record attempt not the race as they missed another mark so rumours have it :jaw: .

Thanks Ben for all the info:up:

Class one is still in the results though.

Does not effect me of course - but it is more a point of how the smaller classes are treated differently to the others.

You are down as 'retired St Catherines' as guess you did not reach the Bembridge turn mark.

various protests were either still going on or still to be heard I believe.

Right.

As there was three starts within the Basic 'round the island' race, some of the timings posted by Ben are not quite right.

Only the first start results were correct.

The clock was started as 'Negotiator' crossed the line, and the time it took to get the other starts under way needed to be deducted from their elapsed time.

So corrected elapsed times are:

Boat 50.....32:22

S-6............40:51

G-97.........46:34 ......... (77.15mph average :D )

V-3...........*****

V-66.........*****

V-2...........49:29

C-57.........*****

GT-19.......*****

G-4...........*****

C-12.........*****

C-5...........54:36

R-66..........*****

C-18..........*****

110............61:20

R-13...........54:48

R-2.............55:45

14..............56:12

C-7.............56:14

11...............56:30

R-11............57:11

R-29............59:42

R-8..............60:14

C-49............61:34

C-31............62:29

R-33............62:48

926.............64:53

R-10............65:55

B-52............79:31

(Note:*****=DQ'D)

Jon Fuller

No, I just have the corrected timings of all finishers, but was asked not to post the DQ'd entries times till it's all sorted.

I make it 72.85mph average, but as a DQ, it doesn't count..

With all the griping going on has anyone noticed that S6 has beaten the the previous record for the circumnavigation of the island, also did Negotiator and S6 do the same course as the rumour mill is sugesting that Negotiator took a shorter route, can anyone throw any light on this. If the route Negotiator took is indeed shorter this makes S6 time worthy of praise and on an index of performance it is a far better result than Negotiator.

Negotiator didn't have to follow the RTI route, just had to get round safely, so probably a slightly shorter route, yes.

However, whilst in the solent (Bembridge to Bridge) he was limited to 90mph by the QHM!

I was at Bembridge as he came screaming up (138mph I'm told) and as he passed the mark, the note from the Lambos dropped to a steady 'hum' compared to the 'scream' as he'd approached.

Rather sad to see it 'hum' off into the distance, knowing how quick it could have been.

I agree tho' S-6's performance was superb! (I make it 88.62mph)

So JP's record is smashed! I hope S6 claims it! Ratifying the record costs. I hope they do ratify it however!

( V2 was the one not DQ'd )
