View Full Version : Boatmad Winter Video Night 2006

OK, How about Saturday January 7th 2006?

The plan is to book the 'Old Courthouse' again, as it was pretty good venue, and reasonably central to 'the membership'.

I'll phone them tomorrow and see if the event room is free for that date.

as a reminder, the address is:

Old Courthouse,
80 Cove Road,
Cove,
Farnborough,
Hampshire,
GU14 0EU

The London Boat Show starts on the 5th, so we could have another excursion on the Sunday down to ExCeL to look at all the latest shite.

This time, I expect a better turn out for the 'Cotton Reel Tank' racing world championships!! Last year, the only other entrant was Lozza Bellamy.

I don't think I'll book the grub through the venue this time and we'll just do our own thing.

So,..... who's up for it?

Here's a reminder of last year

Now we need some definite numbers.

Sort of like trying to organise a powerboat race. Loads of fast boats around the country, people willing to put on events with classes to accommodate virtually all comers but there are always excuses and very few willing to commit to anything.

Board member 'OCRDA' offered to organise an event that should appeal to many on this board whose boats are precisely the type he was looking for. Only two signed on.

Why?

We're having trouble deciding what to do re: food.

Last year, the food was .....Ok, but only ok, not great, or good.

So, this time, how about 'we' organise the room, AV, nibbles on the tables, some sticky puddins, Gateau, trifle etc, but everyone does there own thing for the main course, ie, order bar food from the venue, or pop out when it suits you, to one of the many eateries and take-away's in the vicinity (there are loads very locally, inc KFC, Chinese, Fish 'n' Chips, Pizza Hut, etc, etc.)

thoughts please

well.......I may struggle to eat all that lot; but i'm, sure i could manage the usual KFC, 'HUT & Maccy D's combo!

Captain Chaos
27-12-2005, 11:43 AM
I think laying on some kinda of hot buffet is always gonna be the best choice, however I do appreciate that this entails one person (or relatively few peeps) having to do a lot of work.

I'll happlly put on my chefs hat and do a pot of chilli & a pot of curry..... if the numbers are manageable. Perhaps it could be warmed at streakos?

That said, if the pubs prepared to cook & accomodate all the guests up untill (say) 9.30............that may be the way to go.

i'm ok to do a "macros raid" for all the table nik-naks if needed.
