Shelly Jory and Libby Keir beat the male competition into submission in the Honda 225 hp championship for 2005.

So you nobbas better watch it next season coz ya never know what class they might run next year.

Well done ladies!! :boobs: :boobs:

Quote from press:

Shelley Jory and Libby Keir make up the only all female team amongst 14 teams of men

competing in the Honda 225hp Powerboat Championships and today they won

the final round of the 225hp series (September 11th) to claim the 2005 Championship title

Jory and Keir started today's race just three points ahead of the team

that has dominated this year's 225hp contest, Rob Lister and Will Nocker

in 'Fat Boy Racing'. Lister and Nocker were favourites to win the title

as the fourteen teams arrived at this weekend's Condor Ferries Grand

Prix of Guernsey, but their retirement yesterday and a fifth place today

forced them to settle for second overall. Two phenomenal wins by Jory

and Keir gave them their first ever championship title.

"I can't believe it," said Jory, "we'd given up on the title and were

really trying to consolidate second or third overall. But after

yesterday's victory we knew the championship was in our sights and that

it was all down to today's race. There was so much pressure on us and I

was feeling sick with nerves this morning. But then everything just

went right for us in the race. We got a good start, took the lead at

the first buoy and then just had to hold onto it. When we saw the

chequered flag we were elated. It's been an incredible season and

we've got the result we were looking for. Fantastic."

enjoyed that final race in Guernsey, Shelly certainly looked better trimmed than
the other boats. We were moored by the castle and it was an ideal view point to
see the boats close up.

Women have always done well in the sport of offshore.
If you go back Ladies Araan and Aitken were successful in the 60’s and 70’s
And off course stateside there was Betty Cook.
In the 80’s we had Tracy Clarke and Debbie France (who navigated for Shelly last year) 3C world Champs, Jan Armstrong, Gina Campbell and then in the 90’s along came Sarah Donahue, Jackie Hunt plus lots of others.
Still I guess when you come off a large wave it is of some benefit not having your testicles to sit on!
