What do i need to get/do to get up and running for f200 next year then guys?? And how much you reckon its gonna cost me?:confused: :up:

Well you've got the boat now - all you need is the right lifejackets, helmets, all of the safety equipment - a license and a medical. Is that what you meant?

I need to know where i apply for my licence. And whats needed for my nav? And when you say medical do i just have to have a clean bill of health from my quack ?

You need a race licence from the rya,a permit for your navigator, the rya send you a form for your medical and you get your doctor to fill it in.

one of the first things to do is join a club.pm me and iwill send you a membership form.
As RHINO said, the first thing to do is join an RYA affiliated club and request a licence application form.
Schedule a medical exam
Return the completed application to your club along with a cheque made out the the RYA. Your club in turn countersigns the application and sends it along to the RYA. You will be sent a provisional licence. With any luck, a PB1 should be provided as well which will contain most of the info you need.
At your first race the RYA commissioner will quiz you (orally) on the rules of the road, basic navigation, racing rules etc.
After each of your first four races, the RYA commissioner will sign your provisional licence signifying that you raced safely and adhered to the rules. After collecting four signatures, you can apply for a full licence.
PS Unless the rules have changed, your navigator will have to follow the same procedure to compete in a national series.

I believe both Ana and myself had to pass a verbal test of the rules and navigation/colision avoidance/flags/start procedure etc, by the OOD before our first race. This was then signed off on our provisional licence, as was the first race completed. After 4 completed races, we were upgraded to full licence.

I joined orda this year before l.a regatta because i was supposed to race in the basic in my phantom but it got cancelled! I raced at bournemouth and was asked questions by people their so its not gonna be my first race really. I got a membership card from r.y.a through the post but never recieved anything from orda saying i was a member but at each race shirley new about me and said i was a member so maybe i should ask for something in writing to confirm this? Should i get in touch with orda and ask for the appropriate forms i need?

Yes.
ORDA membership runs from 31/12 each year so you will have to rejoin this year. Dont bother going to your GP for a medical they can cost over £100, best use the rya panel at the awards, this year to be held at the rnli, Poole first weekend febuary, they only cost £30.00.
Both you and your navigator will be required to pass an oral test before your first national race, just hope its not Ann Robinson!!!!
Remember you will have to have a green band around your engine cover for your first 4 races. Knowing the mannerfelts a dunk test may be a good idear. LOL. Good luck see you on the start line.
Obviously you failed the collision avoidence ones Tricky!!!

Who's ann robinson? And why a good idea to have a dunk test? coz they always stuff ?Or turn over? :confused:

Oh Great! Ive done me dunk test for the v24 and im getting quite good at stuffing boats now (used to have a marshan! ha ha!) But the turning over bit dont sound to inviting! Just hope i get thrown out!:D

dont let scare tactics get to you.its all part of the race banter.Ann Robinson is one of the rya officer of the day.she will give you all the encouragement and advice you will need.But on a serious note if you are planning to do the national series either you or your navigator WILL have to pass your vhf licence test
