The River Trent is a busy commercial waterway and therefore respect to other users must be shown. Part on the event will be run at low water therefore don’t expect cruisers to alter course to suit you. Signal clearly your intentions and pass with care.
The stretch of River between Torksey and West Stockworth is relatively narrow with numerous sharp bends and bridges in contrast with the fast open straights beyond West Stockworth. More details are provided in the drivers/ observers course notes issued at signing in.
This event is also designed for fun so if the teams wish they can have twin skiers and also the skiers can change places to complete the second part of the event.

Race boats will be running to the equivalent of Regional race licences.

All boats must carry the following: -

Fire extinguisher
Mobile phone
Anchor
Paddles
Bow line
Life jackets
Insurance BWSF approved (NO CRAFT WILL BE ALLOWED TO LAUNCH WITHOUT PROOF OF INSURANCE.)

If your sole intension of joining Boatmad is to promote your own site, you're outstaying your welcome!

I have not joined to promote the website, I am promoting ski-racing mate.

I make no money from the site, I paid for the design, the hosting etc?

It is new, to help support the sport, make people aware of boating etc..so whats the problem???

Your very first post was asking people to join your web site, subsequent posts are asking to use photos from here, on your site, how is that not promoting/enhancing your site?

How long have you been a member here? How many posts have you made? how many of those have been advertising/asking for material for your site?

Did you even consider asking whether if it was OK to do all this before you posted?

Is this blatent touting?...yes, politeness & courtesy costs nothing!

And lastly, I don't know you, so 'Mate' is probably not a suitable word to use when discussing our relationship.

In conclusion, a simple 'please may I' would have been nice.

Hence the removal of a load of your posts, which BTW wasn't me.

Well YES the posts were to promote the site and the sole reason for people visiting the website is to promote the ski-racing world.

I apologise for 'Butting' into your forum.

I posted the postings to get people to join the site, to get it more active as all we have in our sport are forums. No results posting, pic posting etc, no news to read etc, so that was why i created the FREE site to offer, Free publications and links for people in the sport etc.

I really dont know why I bother, there are a few people in the sport who are persitant on keeping it a small, unnoticed sport. These people then ask why the sport isnt doing well and why no new faces are joining, why the people that were in are leaving. You have just answered all of these questions.

I dontated a whole week to building the site and I require support and members to get the site notice.. I gain nothing! Just a few people being able

So what it I ask for pictures off other skiracing members?? I would do it face to face but I couldnt make it to the race.

Sit in your little ship Mr Captian, sail the waves!!

So asking permision of a site owner before 'touting' was simply too much to ask of a superstar with intensions of saving the sport & possibly the planet?

Fine!

And you've put a WHOLE week into building your site! how much time/money do you suppose Boatmad has cost over the last 4 years!?

...and how much money do you suppose Matt & I've received back from it?...I'll give you a clue...F*ck all!

think people should lay off the kid doin promotional work for ski racing. its a great sport as is power boating. and i'm sure if you promoted ur sport on his site it wouldnt be too much of a problem. all watersports are awsum. and its a forum, thought we could exchange expirences form different sports. and the more people we have talking on these forum the better it is as people will then become more involved. he put alot of work into the website aqnd i think we should all be greatfull that someone is trying to promote the sport.

cheers.

FWIW, I think think the web site he's developed looks excellent and has a nice professional feel.

I'm all for a decent, dedicated site for Ski Racing.

I certainly wasn't pissed off because I saw his site as competition, it was purely the rudeness that upset me, and the subsequent insult.

We have a section here for Ski Racing, though It's not 'my thing', so the section is there to accomodate the skiers/drivers who to date, haven't had any place to discuss their sport online, or have any form of web based notice board.

If the new site takes off, i'm sure it'll be more informative, up to date and useful than here for the Ski Racing community and I wish it well.

He appologised, and all is now cool, when I next update the links section, I'll add his site to the list.

Hope this clears things up a little.

John, i for one like the ski racing section
in a forum of general boating, power boating, and like minded people where we all get to see news as it happens and not isolated to a particular aspect of boating. That, before someone bites my head off! does not mean we cannot have a dedicated skirace web site as well.
