I've got a 12/13ft marina hull stashed somewhere near me caravan. I seem to remember it having a makers plate...i'll double check.
You can always try south coast marine in bournmouth. they do a marque "Marina".

My Dad used to have one of those back in the mid to late 80's, it had a 28hp (yes that does say twenty eight, its no typo ;) ) Yam. I used to drive it when I was just a young whipper snapper. Before that he had some Dori style square fronted thing with an even less powerfull engine, I drove that one too. :D So there you have it, I've been driving boats for as long as I can remember!!! I just took a little break between 1988 and 2002 thats all. Its like riding a bike though in it ay

I know its a marina because on the bows there is a recessed mouulding of the name marina and a dolphin or pike or some sort of fish, i was hoping to find some history out about the boats and some pictures .
TYhanks alot anyway

I know next to nothing about boats, but your description of the logo sounds to me like a fish called a marlin (bit like a dolphin but with a pike's long nose, often pictured arching out of the water). This, added to your initial spelling 'Marin' made me wonder if you actually have a Marlin boat so I did a Google search on 'Marlin boats' and found they make sports fishers now and have been making boats since at least the 80's. I found this logo:
Nope.
Its not a Marlin though they did make a nice sportsboat once.
I believe that BREN is correct about the association between the Marina and Shakespear. I think that it was once a model that they produced until the moulds were sold to A. Nother.:three:

It has a date printed into the moulding 14. 04. 1973, guessing this was its birthday if it helps
1973!!!!
I take it your gonna put it on the Bonny!:lol:lol: :lol:lol:

i once looked at a shakespeare marina magnum that was for sale it was a lot bigger than 12' with a mariner 150 on the back.
that is what make's me think of shakespeare hence using the name"marina"in one of their range

No way, this could be a completely new direction for Boatmad, eg classic powerboats, shows, lots of chrome, always sat on trailers being polished instead of in the water..... infact Boatmad is there already

good answer.
She doesnt look that old she wouldnt keep up with most of the boats on here but when shes finished shell keep up with the ones in her class.
Steve,
Excuse my humour and poor use of smilies.
No offence meant mate.
I can remember my early boating days well (One instance was of a Driver 440 with 115hp mercury with an oar strapped to it for steering! The teleflex had broken). :drain: :drain:
Some of my best times and most adventurous (Stupid) were on small fletchers etc.
Enjoy and have fun steve.

I got a marina 12 about a year and a half ago, got it for nothin' and it was worth less!!! The hull and deck were seperated and the deck was cut in half??? I tore it completely appart and replaced all the timber in it. I have an old loop charged 60 johnson that was ported and modified, to hang on the back.
It's still waiting on some seats and upholstery, don't know wheather to rig it centre steer or side! How fast does yours go with the 70hp? It should fairly scoot, I would say!
Piss taking is not mandatory. . . . . . .It just helps!:booty:

Matt, yeah hehe ... Don't have a garage and insects seem to love the smell of wet paint, land on it and then go on a little wander before they decide to die.
Steve: heres the diff. style decks I was talking about, I'll have a look to see if I have the windscreen template.
No. 1, thats not me, lol...

Does anyone know the limits on these boats engine wise, 40hp, 70hp
Hydrostream
21-07-2004, 12:02 PM
If I were choosing between the 40 and the 70, I would go with the 70Hp. It should take it fairly well, just check the condition of your transom. I have another 60 johnson in the shed and the only thing stopping me from hanging both on is the lack of a lefty gearbox.
If you can get an old OMC stinger you would be laughing, theres loads of them about as they were used to race S850 tunnel boats but I don't think that engine is class legal anymore.

Sorry, if you were asking about keeping it by the book, I think that boat is rated at 40HP!!!

Matt: I haven't run it yet. I kinda ran out of steam on it about the time the V-king arrived.... I realy don't know why ;) It isn't a realy a 70 but it's probably around mid 60's. I cut the heads a bit, cleaned up the block halves, cut the exhaust out a bit. It's all mainly bolt on's now to finnish it, I just need to get the time to do it!
I do need to finnish it soon though, need to get moving on another project
