Hi All, I believe that I have purchased a boat that used to belong to John Lonsdale. I need to know who her first owner was and find out her original name was. She is being re launched next Thursday, hopefully with a name.
Any help with this would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Peter

Hi Coool, That sounds like the boat. Was it something to do with a British forces guy? Please post photo's ASAP. Do you know the Hull ID number? Do you know if it was the original name?
Photos of the inside would be good too, if you have them. I'll probably know it from the paint but the inside should be a give away.
Thanks a lot

Does anyone know who "Anther Marine Limited" is, the name on her. Not sure what that number could be either, any ideas.
Coool, can you email me the pictures in full resolution Peterjfinch@telefonica.net. I'll let you know when I'm round your way with her, I do plan to do the Spanish coast some time next year, hopefully.

Thanks Wacky, another dead end. Can you think of anyone I could contack, to find out who owned her before 1995 and if there were any previous names. I guess that when John Lonsdale had her, her name was the same as those pics? Any idea of what year / years that could have been.
Many Thanks for all your help.

Hi pete ,as i said i bought that boat @ the end of 94 or beggining of 95 ,if u can see middle pic it has date when i took pic,and it spent a good few months in my front patio till i sold it again,i think it was painted in purple or blue, and was then stolen from a spanish port very near gib area,i think it was hardly used, but i will ask the bloke who bought it from me as he will know the other part of the story .

As far as I know John bought the boat new, and sold it in 94, then bought the purple one in 95 or 96. If I were you, I would give Chasewater club a ring, in Cannock, Birmingham, someone should be able to give you his number, can't find the phot I have of the boat but it is the same boat.

Hi Coool, I'm curious too, want to find out as much as possible. I bought her from a guy in Chichester, UK. He says "The chap I bought it from was a Royal Marine based in Poole. He bought it back from Gibraltar and had it in his garage for years. I owned it for two years after he did. When he owned it, it was called "Night Angel"". He also says "The photograph of her original gel coat is exactly what was under the primer. When I bought her, she had been badly painted in what looked like magnolia. When I stripped that paint off, it revealed the colour scheme that is in the 1995 photo".
So your guess is as good as mine but I would like to find out as much as I can. Any more details you can offer, from Gib, would be great.
Thanks

Ok Pete,as soon as i come across this bloke i sold it too ile ask him what really happend to it,but ime not to sure if he bought it from gib again, maybe it was recoverd from spain and taken back into gib again ,and then sold could be that, what colour was underneath the magnolia and before the original gel,coz i think this bloke i sold it to ,did not paint it in magnolia.the pics wacky posted on my behalf is the best i could do,but i might be able to do better if i scan them, that was from my mobile to pc.

Hi Coool, I would like to know all about her. the original gel was blue, with white gel number plaques. The paint, under tha magnolia was the colours in your pictures + a dayglow orange / Red around the engine bay. Any pictures or any information, you could get mem, would be great.
Thanks again.

Hi Coool, the plot thickens. I got the following information from the guy I bought her from. "all the boats that were for sale at the yard when I bought the Phantom were bought at auction from the Royal Navy. They were confiscated by the Navy for smuggling around the Gibraltar area and ended up in Blanford Army camp in Dorset. They were bought by an Army soldier before being bought by the Royal Marine in Hamworthy, Poole."
Interesting huh.

Hi Pete ,thats strange coz when the Navy came down to take our boats, well we can call that stealing better,as when we went to the berthings the following morning the boats where not there, they just cut lines and took them during the nite, the only thing they left as was a souveniour the pudlock, but the strange thing was that they came down for ribs only, and ime 100'% sure about that ,as i lost my 23 foot cobra with a 225 yami brand new just bought from picton boats a few months before, that would also be intresting to find out were that is in the uk,there was 1 more cobra identicall to mine as we both bought together, the last thing i heard a few years ago and that was talking straight with Steve i think his name is form picton boats that the scouts group had it ,i dont remember to good.

This and a similar blue ring came from an auction in the south somewhere here after being confiscated out of Gibralter.....
Do you know how to find out about these auctions at all?

Cool, I've been searching the internet and it seems I'd have to make some direct contacts to find out when auctions were coming up.
Do they regularly come round and confiscate boats? I guess they have to have some hard evidence against it?
cooolaii
13-11-2006, 03:35 PM
Max i aint really into autions but ,if u see the ammount of ribs hulls and allsorts there is ,ur jaw would drop,i actually went round to a compound in spain a few months ago,and i got told by the owner that i would have to check internet too for dates ,which i never did look, but ile find out.and about the hard evidence ,this aint the uk where its much more flexible to own a boat,if u dont have insurance for the vessel to go out @ sea U LOOSE IT,if u dont have the appropiate certificate to drive it,U MIGHT LOOSE IT,if u dont have anything according to the spanish authoroties up to date ,ur boat is HISTORY m8,especially if its suspicious in some sort of dodgy bussiness.and all the pics off ribs in this forum that have been posted today with 4 or 5 engines ,well the guy that said that they will all end one on top off unother ,beleive him thats so true.

I remember seeing a lorry load of them being delivered to the marines camp in Poole a few years ago. Alistair Mitchell, the previous owner of "mambokings" Extreme 24 bought one I think.

 Can anyone advise, as to the use of a bow tank. Patriot is fitted with one and I re fitted it. There are no pipes, pickups, pumps , outlets, inlets or aything for it. Would I benefit from using it and if so, what should I buy, to opporate it. It has two small fittings on the top of it and one large one at the bottom.
Cheers.

Some use em, some don't,
Would need pick up scoop on back, operated by a throttle style lever by cable usually.
Pipe feed to the tank, dump out let which can be done on same lever and a breather.
Top two fittings are breather and inlet, bottom is dump

Hi all, Raised engine about 2.5" and took her out this morning. Still a bit rough so didn't push too hard. She appeared to lean over to port more than when the engine was lower. This time I was alone so no weight on Port side. Did push her to 60mph (Max speed log from GPS) but she didn't seem faster although she lurched over hard. Any ideas ???? If the answer is, to move the engine over, how much ????. Cheers Going for a
