Came across this little beauty during the week.

It appears to be a Plancraft Sabre with a Mercury Blue Band 80HP lump on the back. I think it's 1988 vintage on a Sprite braked trailer. It hasn't moved in three years.

The condition is tatty but sound with slight crazing to the gell coat in places and the odd dig on the keel.

Should I make an offer? (if so how much?) - should I forsake my tubes? - should I stop dreaming?

I think the 16' Sabre was a Mike Ring hull, TD would know for sure.
They are VERY narrow as i remember.

Don't know much more about them, or how they behave.

Just spoke to TD, who informs me it is a Mike Ring design, in the form of a 16 Crusader hull.

did mike design them for plancraft or did he once build them himself?

Not sure how it happened, the hull used on the Plancraft, is that of the crusader 16, which Mike designed, but I don't know if the Crusader was marketed by Mike himself.
