paint job

whats the cheapest way of doing a d.i.y paint job on the outside of a speed boat?

also what engine will get me 40 knots in a shakespeare 17? ( and wont make me rob a petrol station)

Anything other than properly applied 2 part paint will probably not last very long - better off buffing the gelcoat if it's just gone dull - anyone got a better idea?

the boat was origanally red but someone did a gash job of painting it white. and i have sanded it down and want to paint it white!
