brakes on trailers....?

Now, lots of yarns goin about.. " i got done for no brakes etc "...do you have to have brakes on a trailer?, whats the deal then?..does it govern by size of trailer or boat etc?...

A little help here pls guys..

depends on the weight of the load... under 750kg (I think) doesn't need them

its governed by weight, as i understand it 750kgs is the maximum towing weight unbraked or half the kerbweight of your towcar..

Does any one know what the fines are if your brakes dont work on a trailer that should have them.

Don't know about fines but my mate got a gv9 off the ministry and couldn't move boat without it going on a transporter.
