try zipping the file first using winzip - you can download at winzip.com or download.com, then it should attach

The size of the file is likely to be huge, and un-emailable.

most ISP's have a limit to the size of email you can send/receive, AOL is I think, 16meg.

DV format video, is in the region of 200meg/min. So, your 16 meg alowance with AOL will give you 5 seconds of AVI video, not much use!

the only way you can email/transfer video, is to convert it into a more compressed type, ie, windows media video file, or .mpeg

Or you can use a site like megaupload.com where you can upload the file to there server and then send the link to family/friends who can download it - you can upload 250mb for free - there are others around too.

Thats true, but that's still only 1min 15 secs of full DV.

best bet is to convert the file to windows media video, that's what all the videos I post are.

Rocky,

Try this - as Jon Fuller says - best to convert - there is a trial demo of a good one here:

http://www.download.com/DVDCutter-St...ml?tag=lst-0-1

It says it can convert straight from dv stream

OK, what encoder would you recomend for 'windows media video' file encoding?

Actually, wme9 is quite complex, and has many options, for all manner of compression and video sizes, unlike most 'simple' encoders

I was tekkin the pith nobba! I completely agree it's a good tool - and in usual microsoft fashion, they've packaged it in an interface even yer gran could use, which 90% of the time is a good thing, and 10% of the time is a right fkkn pain in the arse.
