How did you tell?
Was it the two piece exhaust divider plate and the horn shape.
Notice as well the the motor does not have the blue NGK leads that come with the high perf motors.

Analogue ECU
Wrong cowling pin bracket, its from a pre 1991 motor.
The steering rams look like Pneumatic actuators.
Look at the date on the photos as well!!

They're the old 'Hynautic' type, and I mean old, like early/mid 80's

And those Annodised red/blue Aeroquip fittings are a big no-no around salt and steering, in fact, they're a big no-no around salt and anything!

Yeh your right Bad Boy was rigged with alot of Areoquip bits when it arrived at mine (as a twin rig) most of the fittings were Knackerd.

This boat used to belong to Clive Winkel / Dave (kracken on here) and was used for ski racing for about half a season.

mmmmn, they corrode internally when exposed to salt, and eventually split open.

We had a 3/4" bore one split on the fuel manifold on Dick Struttons Cougar 46. (a manifold linking the two tanks, with the tree motors,, right down low in the boat) no strain on it, the corrosion just grew & grew inside the thing, till it split open...nice!..3 hundred gallons of the finest, pissing out of a cracked fitting.

PS, I didn't fit them, Jim Brooker did, and admitedly, they were 4 years old by this time.

I agree with JF & CYE had a few on the Midas were rotten as fek. Been a pain getting stainless & slightly more expensive but better in the long run.
Nothing has changed over the years. Still use them today.

Shape of the block on the side just like I've posted on this site numerous times. The horn too as it had the throttle pivot top to bottom but mainly the block as that horn could I guess be used on a 2.5.

The boat is a 20 footer and was supposedly the only outboard Rason Craft ever built. It was ski-raced successfully for many years by Ray Bryant on Lake Como powered by Mods. Originally bought to pull Gilli Clements in Ladies and later re-powered by a pair of worked Yam ProV's it also pulled John Clements in F1. I still have one of the original power-heads that needed a sleeve after nearly an hour. I drove it once or twice with the Yams and it was the first F1 boat my wife ever skied behind at the All Regions race at Strathclyde. Dave Richards pulled Clive Wyncoll behind his Mostes powered by a pair of XR2's and I don't believe ever got involved with this particular boat.

If i'm not mistaken this boat was run by Martin Mclaughlin for a few seasons in F1 ski racing. I remember him towing Wayne Maunders with it for a season. It was then bought by his mechanic and his brother when it became "BULLET PROOF". The motors were originally on the Italian Mostes boat tht Dave Richards now has. That boat sat at SEA j marine for a while before Dave purchased it. Had the biggest fekkin trim tabs i've ever seen. Dave ran the boat in the 2005 worlds in Hunstanton. Dont know where the headlights on the Rason craft came from, musta been a moment of insanity.
