I'll be there dude. I go every year.

Bring warm clothes, boots and a change of footwear for the drive home! Muddy as hell in the car park.

Two years ago I spent about an hour looking for my car in the pitch dark fields they call a car park, so last year I took my Garmin Etrex and 'marked' the parking spot as a waypoint. Easy!!

very true, why anyone would be bragging about a camper going faster is beyond me unless they filled it with nos, that would be entertaining

I think it's just a convenient excuse for the suspension being shot to feck after 40 years.

Well, that was an interesting show!

I've never seen a jet dragster explode before.

Terrifying looking shit. Glad the dude inside was okay.

nah but there are a few vids of it on youtube!
i was standing up near the gate, saw it take off the line then BANG its burst into flames, and then coasted to where we were standing!!! the geezer ran back down the track quicker than the car ever could lol!

then the tanks went.

spoke to the fireforce team on sunday morning, apparently it could of been the extreme coldness splitting a fuel line!?? dont make sense to me!? surley they would have thought of that!?

great day tho, did not think a 5 sec qaurter mile at 320mph was possible, but then again 95/5 mix of meth and nos in a 8000hp V8 it aint going to be slow. not to mention the noise!

im off to book my tickets for the FIA event. all day of it YAY!

its was just the nobs with fireworks the bugged me! :@

I've been going there for years. For seriously quick times, you should check out 'Vanishing Point' driven by the late 'Slammin' Sammy Miller.
No messing about with jets for this bloke - he ran a Hydrogen Peroxide fuelled rocket motor out of a missile!
We're looking at sub 4 second quarters at 350mph plus.

Fireforce? What a mess.

I thought before the run that something was wrong, as one of the crew was on his hands and knees gazing under the car when it was on the line. They did fewer 'burner taps' than usual, then went for the launch.
The second the lights went green and the driver nailed reheat, something let go in the compressor. Debris deployed the brake parachute immediately, so the car was rolling along with the 'chute being inflated by the afterburner!
A couple of seconds later, something failed in the fuel delivery side and the entire car became a fireball.

I was amazed no-one was killed. Just goes to show how well modern safety kit works I guess.
