"proper" mopeds? Whats them then?

I couldn't stand the fizzy... pressed steel frame and that ugly engine. The DT was the height of 70's technology... And it didn't have those girly bicycle pedals.

The 30mph rule meant you had to learn how to make the things go faster pretty quickly... Italian Expansion chambers and taking a file to the restrictor in the inlet tract and a bigger carb meant you got ooh, all of 45mph out of them...

Anyway, everyone knows the AP50 was faster than the fizzy.

This, I think is true, but it's a Suzuki! .. and whilst I hated the FS1E, at least is was a Yamaha.

I can assure you, luck played no part in my not owning a 'fizzy'. some people just like to follow trends, and some don't.

Every nobber and his uncle had a Fizzy.

You may have a point about the Phantoms, but I won't have a bad word said about the Gilera 50!!

as for the fizzy...Pah!

I guess if you like acres of pressed tin, and a kind'a 'step through' vibe in the engine dept, .....

Only a complete nob, like Chaos for example, would ride an embarasment like that. I had far too much self respect to pimp myself on such a dog of aesthetic design.

I really am unsure why you feel the need to further 'dirty' my already tarnished name.......... in a thread about a moped I know feck all about

but whilst we are on the subject, the closest I ever got to anything like it, was when i had one of these:

............. but then i was 11 at the time!

I have one of these tucked away in the garage. Under 700 miles from new (which was 1975), but needs restoring......another project for my retirement.

found a website today (where these pics came from) of a guy who restores them all the time.

The bloke who owns this one, has just spent 6k buying it and having it restored!
