Fizzys were common and looked too much like a moped. I had a DT50M, which looked much more like a proper bike.

My mate had a TY50, the trials version. We used to roam the Northwest of England at 30mph. Manchester to Blackpool took about 3 hours!

...aah RON 110R... did it survive? Highly unlikely... Sorry to dis you boy... but DT50's weren't even born when "proper" mopeds roamed the streets....

Garrelli Tiger Cross, Malaguti Cavalcone followed by an AJW Wolfhound the best looking Moped ever and good for 55mph. Wish id never sold it as its very rare.

Ah, those were the days. Ive never had the same kind of fun on bikes since, apart from my 250 two stroke days of course.

aaah the days when your moped would do 60 but you had to rebuild it every weekend and when going to box hill was an epic adventure

Going anywhere on those old mopeds was an epic adventure!

As Mell says, the pressed tin frame, slanted fwd motor, gaitored forks with pressed tin shrowds etc put me firmly off the Yamaha FS1E, and Suzuki AP50.

I also chose a bike that looked like the real thing, duplex cradle frame, conventional looking motor, proper tele forks, etc, etc. trouble is, though it looked proper, the feckin Gilera 50 Trial only did 43mph!

I have a nice picture of me somewhere falling off the back of it after an unsuccesful wheelie!

You do talk some old shite! Actually, it's more accurate to say, " you do talk talk some sense, but it's very rare"
