hotels in poole
thanks carl i have booked the harbour heights, i tried to get the haven because of swimming pools etc, but it was fully booked so booked the sister hotel the harbour heights, but we can use the havens pools if we wish. i stayed in poole last year and thought what a beautiful boating place, there was boats every where, i see a couple of bertram/ apache, raceboats there that the owners are on here, so i will be down there the weekend of 11-13 may, if anyone wants to give me and the missus a spin in something fast, would love to go out in one of the old racers, i will chip in for fuel obviously, and buy the beers after . thanks Reece.

One of the reps that comes in has repeatedly had great rooms with fantastic views by going through web sites that offer hotel bookings cheaply, and the last hotel he stayed at was the Sandbank's hotel, as far as I am aware same family owns the lot. If you get a beach side room with balcony the views across Poole/Bournemouth bay from old Harry to the needles are superb, not so sure about the views from the Harbour Heights, certainly the lower rooms views may be blocked by trees, although the advantage may be that you can see both out into the bay one way and back into the harbour the other ... enjoy

poole harbour
had a great time in poole, harbour heights hotel was fantastic we was on the third floor so views were spectacular over looking the harbour, had my fast ride out of the harbour on a 9 metre rib with twin 250 hp verados, my first time on a rib it was fantastic in the rough, i was out on it for 90 minutes and came back bone dry, didnt even get light spray, bit different when im out in the p20 tho, i see a couple of nice boats today going out of the harbour some may know, one was a white ring/ extreme i think a 26 called obsession with numbers p6 on it i think, sounded fab chugging past, and one was an old racer, looked like an old bertram or something with big race numbers down the side i think it was 545, whilst i was down there i tried to find out if there was any public slip ways, but i only found one that was well dodgie and i wouldnt launch from. i wouldnt mind being down there in a couple of weeks, for the race with my boat, and go out with all the racers etc, but dont know where i can launch from, is there a slip in the marina that the raceboats will be craned in at and can i use it ?

Public Slip is at Baiter Park, Poole, with space to park tow vehicle.
You may be able to launch at some of the yards as well, ring round.

Decent slipway available for public use (daily rates) at Cobbs Quay in Hamworthy, also Rockley Point at Rockley Sands. I think there's a (quite expensive) one at Salterns near Sandbanks, although I understand it's not fully accessable at very low spring tides.

Boatnut, why not sign up for the safety fleet, we may be able to help you with a slipway launch.
