I cant figure out where the centre low pressure cyl exhausts, is it by a valve that the cutaway doesnt show or is it like a two stroke exhaust port?
Interesting though!

I really dont understand either, it looks like a form of forced induced scavenging??? if there is such a thing.
but could be the shape of things to come?

The ' Detroit Diesel' is a supercharged two stroke (forced scavenge) old as the hills.

i understand the concept for 2 strokes but odd on.... well i want to put 4cycle but also didnt know if there was such a term as forced scavenging or what ever its called. interesting that its from one cylinder to another.

There were a few British trucks that ran Scavenge pumps (,blowers ) commer light truck for one used the wade ro34 , you could convert them to run on petrol motors but had to have steel shafts fitted to the rotars or the would just destroy themselfs when spun too fast . i put both ro34 and ro20 on ford 3 liter motors for cars and boats in the 80s .

but that is compressing air isnt it? the bit i cant quite grasp on this is one piston pushing a charge into the next cylinder via timed valves. where as turbos and chargees just pressurise the inlet side of things?

Its the same principle as a two stage steam engine, where to steam pressure is used twice, high and low pressure. The low pressure cylinders are a bigger diameter, to the high pressure ones and the reason for that is you don't need as much pressure as it is working on a larger cross sectional area. Or something like that anyway, its looks a good idea though.
