Local Paper twice in the same week
i'm in the local paper twice in the same week. the first article
RNLI CREW SECURES DRIFTING SPEEDBOAT
An RNLI crew rescued a stricken speedboat from Weston Bay on Monday last week.
The crew of the Burnham Staines Whitfield boat were on a training exercise near Brean Down when Swansea Coastguard received a call at 8.10pm of a red distress flare coming from a speedboat, near the Sea Life Centre.
The RNLI crews in Weston were called out but as Burnham's crew was less than five minutes away it was also sent to help with the rescue.
They arrived on the scene to find the 21ft speedboat had broken down.
Burnham's lifeboat helmsmen Glen Cutter said: "The speedboat was drifting helplessly in strong onshore winds. We were close enough to give assistance quickly and the Coastguard asked us to help."
The speedboat was towed to Knightstone Harbour before the Burnham crew went back to their training exercise.
Good to see the RNLI make it sound better
1. my boat is a 20 not a 21
2. i didnt launch any flares cus i aint got any
3. i had broken down but only a flat battery
4. the life boat only came because it was out on exercises and the coastguards were on the beach doing training and they called them

Yes dude but then all 260's do thats why people put those alternator kits on them. only got a 16amp charging circuit and on mine its trying to run
all engine electrics, injectors ecu etc
power trim
power lift
trim tabs
and i do alot of stop starting when towing skiers etc
now i tend to charge the battery after every outing

Yes he does!!!
Its because the race motors XR2/2.5 260 (not 280) only have a 16 amp charging system and burty has loads of toys (power lift, power trim, trim tabs, EFI, electric fuel pump) in his boat that he uses all the time rather than concentrating on his driving

Yeah the paper well and truely stiched Cye up.
What actually happened was, after Saturdays race was cancelled Cye went out to try the motor (he was running someone elses 2 litre so he could race in F3) had some engine trouble, and had to be towed back in by Burty. Then on Sunday he went out having fixed the motor and well and truely cleaned up in F3. Lapped everyone, except 2nd place, twice and was a lap and a half ahead of 2nd place in just a 35 minute race.
All the paper said was "but it wasn't plain sailing for all who took part, Cye Hayes from weston is towed ashore by Rob Strick after his newly fitted engine broke down in the bay." And then a big photo of Burty towing Cye, taken on the Saturday not Sunday.
Didn't mention that it was on the Saturday. No mention of how well Cye actually did in the race on the Sunday. And only F1, F2 and Ladies results published.
What a load of crap!!!

I'm not taking the piss, but can't ya pull start ya motor burty?
I used to pull start my 2l motor occasionally just to prove it was possible if I flattened the battery.

i used to pull start my old 2.4 but you need some power to run the fuel pump, injectors, ecu etc so it is impossible on the 2.5 race motors. they dont put the hooks on the flywheel anyway
