My dad used one of those magnetic ones for a car (unleaded with cat conv.) it did put his fuel bill down quite a bit, was an old car though.

The magnetic healing stuff isnt all bullshit (although I admit most of its probably just placebo).
I have several collegues who swear by thier use of Quelinx which is a necklace on a very similar theme to Gavs bracelet

The scientific aid from the bracelets is probably a combination of placebo and some change to the magnitisation (is that a word?) of some of the components of the blood, however the car ones (with the exception of JBDs!!!) have some scientific evidance - the fuel ones will excite the molecules more and so they are more likely to combust in the engine and so produce a higher output - either through better performance or in most peoples cases, lower fuel costs. Similarly in the use of them for gas, water etc. BTW my dad sells them as a side product if anyone is interested!!! For cars, gas, water, people (like gavs) and cats and dogs

All these products that claim to save you fuel don't actually tell the ECU to inject less fuel for a given amount of air as that would make the engine lean. So as far as I can see they must increase the efficiency of the engine thus giving more power making the driver apply less throttle for the same acceleration. Thus less air and less fuel enter the engine and so the car returns more MPG. So it stands to reason then that at WOT the engine would have more power.
I've seen claims of upto 20% improvement in fuel economy for these magnet thingy's so would it be fair to say that If I fit one to my 160hp (naturally aspirated) Scooby that I would see 192hp then if I get myself an Ecotek Valve (+10%) I should be pushing 208hp. Makes you wonder what Subaru are doing feckin around with turbo chargers and such like dun it!!!

If I got a Kand N cone filter and a few gallons of shell V-Max I reckon I would be up there in the neighbourhood of 220hp , sweet!!! Thats a 60 hp gain for around 150 notes!!!

Re: Magnetic healing
I have tried these on cars, gas supply at home and our old border collie cross. The car an aging Escort 1600 improved by 40 extra miles per tank , the gas don't know if it did any good, But old arthritic Ben who was 12 when he started to suffer was on tablets at 20 quid a month. We put one of the pet collars on him and noticed an improvement within days, after 3 weeks was off the tablets and behaving almost like a puppy. No placebo there cos we didn't tell him it would make him better. he went on to nearly 17 before his other bits let him down.
I tried a bracelet type one after that and all it did was collect iron fillings and make my wrist sore.
My sister swears by them as she has a circulation condition, constant cold extremities also known as white finger.
So they work for some but not others. Don't knock something you havn't tried.

OK, so someone explain, in proper technical terms, why they reckon these magnetic things work on your car.
