Manx TT 2007.

For those of you interested in the Manx TT, Keep an eye out for Kevin "AGO" Murphy at the 100th aniversary in 2007. He will be riding the Corrotherm/TBI Honda 600RR and looking to beat his best Lap time of 109mph.

After some minor sponsorship at last years TT, Kevin managed to persuade us to purchase the new unused Honda 600RR from the Late Jun Maeda, (who died after an accident on the bikes sister at last years TT).

A couple of pics, the Honda as purchased and prior to painting and the man himself in his new leathers.

We hope Kevin has a safe and enjoyable 2007 TT and doesnt work us to hard in the Pit's.

how come you didnt go the 2006/ r6 route,is the honda better or was it just a better deal at the time?

In 2006 kevin was riding the R6 for a nice chap who owns a few bikes under a Team banner who lets riders use his machines for the TT. He does this for the pure enjoyment of being involved in the TT. The riders then pay for all racing costs which amount to a minimum of 5 grand for the fortnight.

We supplied his tyres and new leathers for the 2006 TT, but we were looking to be more involved in the 100th aniversary TT so we decided that we would like to sponser Kevin to continue Road racing in Northern Ireland and the Isle of Mann and especially the TT next year.

The R6 was and is a great bike, however the Honda RR is proving to be a better bike for Kevin. It was also available at a very reasonable price.

For those that have never experienced the TT, it is in my opinion something that everyone should experience once in their lives. OK its not politically correct and riders are injured and killed every year but these guys are Gods with kahonies the size of melons. To be able to maintain average lap speeds of over 120mph around a road circuit 37 & 3/4 miles long whilst inches away from stone walls, kerbs, street furniture etc is truly amazing.

I,ll second that....been going for about 10 years now.....the riders are true heroes...you will never forget the first time you see a racer pass by doing nearly 200mph within a few feet of you...truly amazing....2007 is the centenary year so should be special.
if he is averaging 109mph on a 600 bike he is a very good rider.
it really is a must see but you better be quick cos i dont think it will last much longer...the pc brigade are starting to get their teeth into it & last year even the mcn gave it a slagging...the thing that makes the festival is the weather & last year it was perfect all race week.

Djb, your right, the weather last year was fantastic.

As for the experience of the TT, once you have been, you just have to go back. The atmosphere is the best i have ever experienced at any sporting event and the riders really are heroes. Big respect to anyone who enters the TT regardless of their lap times.

It does appear to be on borrowed time and it is politically incorrect today, but Road Racing is the only event left that has not been wrapped in cotton wool and so still retains all the elements needed to make for a highly enjoyable spectator sport.

The view on the Isle of Mann is that it Will Continue as it brings in a huge amount of tourism money every year to the island.

Only time will tell as to its fate but if you like motorsport and bikes in particular get to the TT before its to late, cos you will never witness anything like it again in your lives.
