Cardiff National 21st May
Welcome to Cardiff Bay Round 3 of the British National Water Ski Racing Championships
The Welsh Water Ski Association, in Partnership with Cardiff Harbour Authority are pleased to welcome you to Cardiff Bay once again.
Each year Cardiff have tried to improve the facilities on offer to you, the competitors, and this year we will endeavour to do our utmost to make your stay a happy and successful one.
Those of you who have been here before will be well aware of what the Bay area and the City have to offer. Those of you coming for the first time we welcome you and hope you enjoy your short visit and will want to keep coming back.
As well as our racing Cardiff Council are holding a French Market in the Roald Dahl Plas over the weekend which always brings the crowds and has some really good food and wine on sale.
This year the City is hosting the final of the European Rugby Cup on the Saturday which puts hotel accommodation at a premium. With this in mind we have tried to schedule signing in and briefing later than normal to enable competitors close to Cardiff who would have normally arrived on Saturday to arrive early on the Sunday morning, as long as they have given prior notice. Please phone Howard Smith to arrange scrutineering times.
Cardiff Bay will be very busy on Sunday, an ideal situation to bring our sport maximum publicity, so it is planned to hold the races at prime time for spectator value. i.e. 12.45pm Bambino race, 2pm for the Main race and 3.30 for the Support race.
Our hosts, once again are the Cardiff Yacht Club and we would ask that you take directions from the organisers as to where and how to park your vehicles. Cardiff Yacht Club are pleased to have us their and have laid on the shower and toilet facilities as last year, but the club and car park are still open to their club members and they take priority over us, so if you are asked to move dont argue just do it.
Travel: Follow the M4 to Junction 33 taking the A4232. Ignore the signs for Penarth and Barry. Continue on until you start to cross a bridge, the Bay is on your right and the river on your left. Slow down, at the end of the bridge you will see Ski Race Competitor signs directing you to the left.
Follow the signs taking the slip road signposted Techniquest and at the junction take the second exit down Dudley Street. Carry straight on and the Cardiff Yacht Club (not the Cardiff Bay Yacht Club) is in front of you.
The full race programme is on the following pages so please read it.
Once again on behalf of the WWSA and Cardiff Harbour welcome and we hope you have a really great weekend.
David Silver
WWSA Chairman

Why the f$%k do these events always clash with something else goin on down there. I understand the publicity thing but not when hotels go to pemium rate!! Last time we paid £80 for our room to watch a load of pissed up Arsenal and Man u fans smashing the resturaunt to bits in front of my 3 year old son. Anyway, when the racing is on theyll all be watchin the rugby, so wheres the publicity?????????
