Hi Bob

I searched the rules for a minimum length in Formula 1 but funnily enough couldn't find one. People seem more interested in the maximum length in that class!

It is the 2.0l F1 350hp engine that has been banned. We are waiting for confirmation of this season's rules but I could send you like a link to the 2012 rules? We also have our Chief Scrutineer, a BoatMadder for confirmation.

Gary

Question Baot Classes

Is there room for a lower formula similar to the old "A" Class?

I seem to remember that the lower class was Formula 4 ! "A" Class is still Offshore Circuit Racing.

Interestingly I would have a go in Ski Racing if I could run my dirty old V4 Yamaha !

The smallest class was 'A' class before it was Formula 4. 'A' class was a 14 footer with about a 50 Merc whereas Formula 4 generally became a 16 footer with an 85 Yam.

The smallest classes were the least well supported and new classes were introduced aimed at the sizes of boats/engines interested people were more likely to have. The current F3 is derived from the Belgian X class but instead of a Bernico 19/150 Merc it is now any 18 to 21 footer with any standard engine up to 150hp.

Bob, doesn't your Yam come into F3 as a older engine which produces up to 150hp?

In Formula 1, yes.

Rule 4.05/09 (b):
Fuel or gasoline is unrestricted and competitors are responsible for the supply of their own type of fuel.

The rules i sent you show how to measure your boat and no the 18ft is just the hull. Don't know what the rules are on Loch Earn about boats but we only race on a part of the Loch. the course is only closed whilst the racing is going on.
