Whitstable Water Ski Club Needs You Now!
Notice of Emergency General Meeting – Sunday 6th March 2011, The Anglers Club, Whitstable, Kent, 3.30pm
Whitstable Waterski Club – hosts to the first ever World Water Ski Race in 1979, not to mention numerous National and International Races, and cradle to two World Champions (Liz Hobbs and Steven Moore) – is in grave danger of closing.
Keith Fowle, current Secretary and member since the Club’s inception, has called an Emergency General Meeting to discuss the Club’s future. Joyce Williams, who has done a fantastic job over the years as Membership Secretary is retiring, and while in recent years the Club has joined forces with other local organisations, without some ‘new blood’ there is a real risk the Club may disband.
The Club has a venerable history, being formed in 1965. Its ramp was constructed by club members in 1972 and it was proud hosts to the first round of the first ever Worlds in 1979. Don’t let this little piece of British Waterskiing history slip away!
If you are interested in the Club, or Ski Racing in Kent and would like to help keep the club alive please come to the meeting this Sunday 6th March at the Anglers club at 3:30pm. For further details please contact Keith Fowle on 01227 368760.
