The engine is in need of a bit of cutting off of the red casing here and there, also the fuel tank can be unscrewd from underneath and slung to the side. A tight fit maybe but not impossible.

Has anyone made progress on the rigging of any of these boats? Any up and running already?
The last of the bits I needed arrived today, and I intend to start the fitting out soon. Photos to follow.

The build begins
I have started to rig this monster now with two side struts to hold the engine mounts and the transom, a couple of cross bearers that are in final shape and fit stage right now will help add streangth to these bearers. Then the whole lot will be glassed in and be as strong as mustard. The plastic box will hold the radio gear and keep it dry. A good buy at £1.20 Lock 'n' Seel from poundstretchers.
I have also made the first of the engine mounts you can see fitted to the engine, with rubber bushes that bolt to the bearers that still need slots cut in them also a lot more of the red plastic shroud around the engine has been cut away.
I have included pics of the stern drive gear and rudder plus the quick easy way to knock up a model boat stand needed to hold the damn thing still.
Still got loads to do, like the exhaust, throttle and linkages.

Yes Mike and an Octura balanced polished prop. I've not used them before as The only builds I have done before have been fast electric. Have you used Octura before - any good as they seem very well engineered?
Everything about this build is bigger and stronger than I've dealt with before. Even the bearers would nomally be tacked in with P40, but now I'm having to glass over to take the torque on the engine mounts. Its brilliant and I really love doing it all.

I always tried to use Octura parts but they were on fast electrics not nitro. They are definately quality parts.

Robbie,
Have you finished fitting it out yet and if so how is it going with the 2 stroke strimmer engine as i am thinking about doing the same but before going down that route would like to know the pitfalls if any.
Many thanks
Woody

I'm afraid I've been enjoying my big boat a lot recently what with this late spell of good weather we've been having. In fact I'm going down again tomorrow as something came adrift on the dashboard last time out.
The model is on the back burner until I have more time (weather getting worse). But if I was going to build another one of these models I would definatelly use a Zenoah engine mainly because there are so many parts made for these engines. Every part I have fitted I have either made myself or altered a Zenoah part to fit.
Look towards paying out for one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=020
The things like cooling and exhaust which have been my big stumbling blocks become a lot easier. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/PMB-rc-parts
PMB on eBay carry all the parts for these engines. However it all becomes a lot more expensive. The good thing about making up parts yourself is its cheep.
