As young guy in Birmingham and going Hydroplane racing was his early interest,a certain Don Shead could well have participated at that circuit.I think he went on to bigger things.

Don Shead

This film is a bit early to include the racing exploits of Don Shead, although he was a member of the Midland Hydroplane Club.

His most successful season racing was in 1958 driving a 350cc Konig powered American-built Swift hull.

The same year Don broke the 350cc outboard speed record on Coniston Water at 54.83 mph.

Yes all of it is on computer, around 1000 pages / 500 photos in 12 volumes, including national and international (circuit and offshore) race results and speed records. After 26 years of research I may possibly start publishing the project next year, but some volumes are still incomplete and I am very reluctant to publish the British Offshore championship category despite the help of Ray Bulman.

Volume 1 World Championships - circuit racing - since 1938
Volume 2 European Championships - circuit racing - since 1939
Volume 3 British Sprint Championships - circuit racing - since 1928
Volume 4 British Drivers’ Championships - circuit racing - since 1965
Volume 5 World Championships - offshore racing - since 1964
Volume 6 European Championships - offshore racing - since 1972
Volume 7 British Championships - offshore racing - since 1964
Volume 8 World Water Speed Records - in homologation order - since 1925
Volume 9 World Water Speed Records - in class order - since 1925
Volume 10 British Water Speed Records - in class order - since 1937
Volume 11 LOBMBC Trophy Results - since 1933
Volume 12 Club on the Park - History of LOBMBC - 2nd edition
