Cougar cirquit "Cat"

I bet it was not easy for Beard to drive his own design ('76) in a straight line:

1976 era

That`s the Mk 2 Version of the cougar 3-pointer (see Fairford 1970 in Gallery-circuit album for Mk 1).Beard nose dived in the Amsterdam 3hr race, suffering minor injuries.
Whilst trawling thro the fish files for 1976,came across another boat for Olli `s book of odd craft, and an enclosed cockpit to boot when first made.

That's ugly enough to be a Levi design!

The Turkish guy who was behind the boat was Erbil Serter - actually developed and built many interesting boats since.

The boat shown was also fitted with Sabres as I believe a final experiment before being cut-up!

Nothing up actually, but i do think you may have a bit of a persecution complex.

I just don't happen to like the majority of Levi designs, I know the sea keeping etc is legendary, but his styling really doesn't do it for me.

If you have a problem with that, tuff. Each to there own etc.

Thanks for the info FF. Sometimes I wonder what went through the mind of those designers when the came up with craft that not only look ugly but also sometimes have hull designs that you don't have to be a naval architect to see instantly that they will never run good. But I like to see those curiosities anyway.
From the same time period, designed by Felix Wankel and powered by one of his rotary engines:

Nice one

Could that be the new Cowes -Torquay sprint boat for Peter Twiss.
Maybe that`s too deep for the younger Jonnies.

Another for the Book of the Bizarre.

What year?

One hopes that Wankel design ended up in a museum, rather than the scrap yard.

Peter Twiss

I bet there are followers of the sport going arrgghhhh!!!!!

To do the man justice would take hours of research.Again google him,but in essence after serving in the RAF,joined the marine side of Faireys and spent the 60`s and 70`s racing in various sorts of boats from `News of the World`through to the Fairey Marine craft.A proper gent and another of the personalities that has added to the legend of the CTC.This is why it grieves me to see what is happening now ,when if only the modern guys were aware of the history and what legends have made the CTC what it is,they would maybe stop and think what it is they are possibly destroying.
Anyway I`ve shot off down another tunnel and screwed up Olli`s thread.
