does anyone know this boat

hi there just been to basildon today to pick up another boat, and saw this in the back yard.
was told by the workers that it is a boat called PACE SETTER.
can anyone else shed light and engine info
talking again to people there and we reckon it was either a gas turbine or a diesel electric
made by the BRITISH PETROLEUM RESEARCH CENTRE

its amazing how many old racers are cropping up lately, it looks like it was a corker in its day

was told it is off to landfill or scrapping very very soon

It is the B.P. Dynaplane. Eugene clemence/williamson design high speed monohull. Originally powered by rolls royce gnome gas turbine engine. Built by L.E.Miller at British Hovercraft comp UK 1978.
It is an exceptionally well built Aluminum hull very strongly built. Engineering is cross between an airplane and a naval vessel.
I would imagine it could be re-engined with a conventional engine.
I think it became an embarrassing white elephant for BP and Rolls Royce when it had teething troubles (turbine governor malfunction turbine hitting 78000 rpm then disintegrating). as they were both state owned companies with the public eye on them at the time.
The build quality is typical of a no expense spared project.
Hopefully it can be saved from destruction. The hull is in perfect condition.
