Can anyone tell me anything about these Don Shed designed off shore power boats? racing history? who made them?....was it Sunseeker or Halmatic? How many where built etc....im in the process of buying one now and I would like to know the history or racing pedigree. Any info would be much appreciated...Many thanks Matt

Attached is a DS110 snippet even if you spelt the name wrong (Shead).

Boat design was just after Miss Enfield 1 (1969).

Wt (Lightship) - 5.1 Tonnes (structure -1.7 T,mchy 1.4T,accom 0.5T).(Full Load) - 7.3T.

One raced (Fast Buck) by Pobjoy`s wife in 78 in the Southern Speed Trophy (Film of it in the Boatmad Gallery) and average 25.6 mph with 2 x 250hp sabres in rough conditions. The same boat raced in 1980,and achieved 34.3 mph in the Poole Int.

Thank you so much, its very interesting to know that because 'Fast Buck' is the actual boat I am buying. Im also looking to put it back into its racing colours with its numbers too, I have '02' and 'P2'...not sure what number she wore during her racing years which I believe was also 1978???? CowesTorquay ? not sure? im waiting to get my hand on its racing history paperwork, meeting up with the old owner in the new year when the survey is done. Where do I find that film, do you have a link?

My e-mail address is: matthew.holness@fly.virgin.com if anyone has any film or pics....all greatly received! Thanks!

best Wishes
Matt

Jim Brooker went all the way to Monte Carlo and won with these engines,so maybe if he reads this post,he could well be your man.

BTW those race numbers are correct.

JF beat me to it re the film ref.The film was an old Southern TV one,I taped on a Phillips N1500 machine with tapes the size of chocolate boxes, pre Betamax/VHS days.

Fast Buck didn`t do the CTC 78.

Those wts look quite heavy compared to say the Bananashark wts for a 34ft boat.Mind you Mr.Cookee was a naughty boy not defining the boat had a lot of internal structure missing,so by the time it`s really finished the structure wt will be more like the JF estimate.Still a good job to get the wt down as he has done.

Now I'm not being pessimistic, or negative, but shouldn't we wait to see if it stays in one bit before congratulations are in order? Anyone could build a 250kg 34 footer if it never needed to stay together.

Just saying...

Superb, thanks guys...ill add the '02' to the sides of the hull and top surface to of the superstructure.

I have some pics of her now I can e-mail people, the size of the files are too big to add on here but I can e-mail them to anyone wishing to have a look?

Hi Matty, this little program makes shrinking photos, to put on here, easy http://toki-woki.net/p/Shrink-O-Matic/. It even puts the new photos into a seperate folder (that you select) and leaves the original alone. Worth a look.

Might also be worth talking to Mike Wills in Poole, he knows the old Ford blocks very well, hes worked on them in many Fairye boats for years.

For injection pumps and injectors try PB Asher in Southampton.
