Surfury was still there last week when I removed Trident. She will go into storage if a new home is not found for the collection. She belongs to the National Maratime Museum so proposals to do things with her are complicated. I took somed pictures will post soon.

Interesting how back in 1964 it was 190mls to Torquay !! just goes to show that the boats have'nt got any faster they have just moved all the towns & cities closer together !!

They used to do laps in the solent at the start, sometimes round the back of the island too.

Thanks for the update,look forward to some pics.Bit confused as to how much was privately owned.i hope all those engines find good homes and dont get scrapped not the outboards .The ww2 barge outboard the huge one should be saved its probably the only one.A customer told me today it had been on the news and the councill said it was loosing money.i guess the fact it was free and relied on donations might of contributed to that ,twatts.
So glad we found it before it was to late.i wonder what will happen to boats like the 007 fairy.We dont seem to be very good at preserving our history anymore,The power boat trust another missed oppertunity.all very sad.CW.

I have to admit that i like the idea of a one way race if its that sort of distance,i think it gives lots of people in the solent a chance to see whats going on whether there afloat or on shore.Also at Torquay it seems better for them to see all the boats that make it rather than a distant passing.As a non racer myself i have no idea of the problems ,classes or anything else to do with it ,its just a personell opinion.cw.
