First 2102 Guernsey Poker Run / Shakedown!

ROLL UP, ROLL UP!!! The start of the powerboat season is almost upon us and it's only 2 weeks until the first poker run of the year, an ideal shakedown for all the raceboats!!
Starting mid morning from the bridge, the course is going to be around the Islands finishing back in St Peter Port at about 8pm so we can all head off out on the razz knowing our precious craft are safely tucked away in the visitor's marina!
I'll be putting up the final details in the next day or two but it'd be great if everyone could let me know if they plan to attend!

All UK powerboaters are welcome to attend! This won't be the biggest one of the season (that title's going to the 'Round Island Challenge'!) but it's still set to be a great run to blow away the cobwebs and stand a chance of winning way more than your fuel bill in cash!!

See you all out there...!

Entry Fees...
There's no entry fee as such for this event, but you must have at least one poker hand per boat!

Hands will be priced at £40 for GPA members and £50 for non members. With membership costing just £10, you may as well join up and save at every other event during the year!

Most people will be running with about 4 in a boat, so it only means a tenner per person for a whole day of fun, not to mention the chance to win...

HUNDREDS OF POUNDS IN CASH!!!

Be there or be square people!

Fancy Dress!!

This event will now be open to all types of Fancy Dress!!

The wilder the better here, costumes will be judged by the fine staff of the Mermaid while we're there and the best presented will win bottles of bubbly!!

Details...

Ok then everyone, it's getting close now, lets hope the weather improves!!
It's looking like we've got 16+ boats so far so it's set to be an amazing day!!

So it's simple really...
We're starting at Blindo's. Rock up at 9 to leave about 10. Pay us when you get there for however many hands you want!

We'll run the route stop by stop collecting our poker cards as we go. Everyone leaves each stop together, no one gets left behind!! That way no matter what the speed range we'll all stay as a group!

There'll be plenty of laughs along the way, some challenges and some awesome prizes sponsored by the stops as we go!

One of the prizes is for 'Best Fancy Dress' awarded by the Mermaid Tavern. The whole day is about having fun so make the effort, dress up as something random!

We'll be stopping for lunch in Sark, going ashore at all the stops and will end up in the Victoria Marina about 7pm where we have free mooring all together for the night!

From there we'll head up to the Terrace Cafe for the main presentation to find out who's won a MASSIVE CASH PRIZE!!!! Whoooo!!

Then we'll all head home for an early night and not even consider going into town to get smashed.

Awesome.

Hi All,

Just do update and dispell some rumors....

The Poker Run WILL be going ahead tomorrow.

The more reliable forecasts aren't looking too bad with the weather dropping during the day and it's looking better by the minute.
We'll take each leg as it comes and shorten if required, the important thing is that we'll still have an amazing day no matter what and there's still that chance to win a big cash prize!!

See everyone at Blindo's 9am tomorrow!!

Cheers, Larby
