0.1% Proof Stress

Collage Assignment.....
have to work out 0.1 % proof stress, anyone know how to doit?
tryed google but no luck

Not quite sure where you're going with this, but you could start with A.S.M.E / A.S.T.M if that's the sort of test you are after and google that in...

..MMmmm.. after a bit of Googling ASME use .2%.

question is:
for specimen c) Calculate 0.1% proof stress. Show all working.

Specimen c is A1 Alloy Sol trestment 5-5 C and aged at 185 C
Dia is 6.45 mm
length 25 mm

I have worked it UTS out to be 491.51N/mm
And strain 19.76%

0.1% proof stress is where a line is drawn parallel to the elastic line on the stress strain graph. The line starts 0.1% or 0.2% along the x axis from the origin of the graph. The line runs parrallel to the elastic line until it intercepts the elastic line just after the point of yielding. Where the line intercepts is the proof stress value.

I haven't explained this very well so i will try and post a diagram.
