so now you've read and digested all that TD are we about to see a 100mph Extreme 21' down Soton waterway between now and next summer, but as the Extreme is a much superior hull and British it should be breaking 120

That's pretty mental! How does the Alpha manage with that kinda power and speed? I thought they were supposed to be an awful drive?

My theory is that whilst it is high revving it has little torque thus getting Hp @ high rpm !!

Makes sense really when you think about it eh!

Congratulations by the way, not only on the speed, but mainly on getting to drive such a damn awesome bernico!! Is it yours or just on loan?

That's mad. Almost as mad as the bloke being towed!!
So what's the advantage of having it on an alpha drive compared to having it as an outboard? Lower COG?
How many bernicos have you got now? Or is this the same one as you used last year without the awesome wrap?

James

There used to be a rule in Ski Racing where you could have twice the CC for inboards so this ran in the F3 2ltr Class !!

I have 3 at the moment !! This one was a prototype which has'nt really taken off yet !!

That really is a fascinating article, for me not so much getting that amount of power trough an Alpha leg but the difference that all the different set ups made to speed and handling with different X heights, props, skegs, power, RPM and torque, and the way he documented the results at each stage, However I suspect that that amount of power from that engine and putting it trough an Alpha leg would be at the expense of longevity of both.

I love the way he cut the leg down to create a shorty to get a lower X dimension. I wonder if you could do that with a Bravo leg???. May have a play with that idea after I finish my boat.
