Why would there be a transition period for a new class? EPA engines have been on the market for 8 or 9 years now.

The RYA/ORC need to look after the existing classes and promote stability if the numbers are to increase

Why a transition phase? No need for it.

When we went from non EPA to EPA Engines, some people (all of them had old Merc XR6 and such) Said that the 150 class would die. It's now bigger than before and growing as we speak with new Boats designed for the class and old Boats getting restored. People have alot of fun Racing in this class. No cheating, all have simular power.

Even the V-300 class that I will be Racing in have a slow increase in compeditors. And most of them are Phantoms

150 class

i was trying to find a compromise between ocr and offshore, ocr being to boats that are running non epa motors,
zander,i am puzzled as to 3c with 200xs have to have a canopy yet you can run same motor on 21 phantom with no canopy?
i will stick to v24

I can't believe you're talking about introducing yet another new class, and want to allow old technology motors. It hasn't been possible to buy them for ages now, so why not stick to modern epa motors?

Or is it the case that you think you've found an old motor that will give you the edge?

RYA / ORC SHOULD have looked after the existing classes !! That way the numbers would not have decreased in the first place !!

Absolutely.

Anyone with a 3C boat they can no longer race in the uk is quite welcome to join us in Guernsey! Ferry rates for racers are excellent now, and we can store boats between races and tow to the pits if needed.

So why is it ok to run 3c boats without canopys in guernsey. but not in the uk and we are all running under rya,why dont you all come to uk in return that would make it fair

RHINO, our V-300 class is quite different from 3C. No Cats, heightlimit on the engines. We strugle to get over 70 knots here. 3C reaches over 90.

To be perfectly honest racing in the UK doesn't sell itself as a fun thing to do! A few of us will be over next year for Cowes and Folkestone, but I've got no interest in racing in a national series where people are DQ'd and have points removed with no formal explanations.

Brian, you at the agm years ago when we discussed the 4 year transition period where the wording submitted to the rya was changed from experimental period to experimental class.

It just ain't going to happen in the near future.
As for all these ocr and offshore boats that are out there, the fact is they are not doing the races now... so why are they goin to do a national series?

Sadly, all the good ideas have been ruined over the last 10 years or so.

Totally agree, but when there isn't even a rule number quoted which was allegedly broken then questions must be asked surely?

I may be wrong, but I think it's because we're basic/club racing. Only our 3A/3B class had national status this year. I do think it's stupid and can see your frustration, a B23 with 200xs is capable of the same speeds whether it's in a national race, a basic race or just pissing about testing

Zander,I like the look of Rude150 ho but how much faster is it then A or B class with 130 HO ?
Rhino -I reckon 150 class might stutter as everyone has gone 130 route
