You're supposed to rubbin oil into the oul womans back!

PS, you need to get your steering sorted, summat a tad tight on her, she don't self centre.

Just so that there is no mistake here - We have on on our demonstrator (Thank you E.p. Barrus!) The helm is hydraulic and the ram is hydraulic. The only electric bit is the pump instead of being belt driven in a car.

For further information they are all pretty much silent although the very first ones were a bit noisy (the steering pumps).

The engines are incredibly quiet and are great for a ski boat or similar where you don't want a howling 2 stroke.

Codprawn - if you increase the power rating and keep that lifter be very carefull with the throttle!

Do you have a 300xs Cookee? If so would love to know all about it - fuel usage - performance etc etc.

What I like about the 300xs is the weight is the same as my suzuki DT225 - and that's pretty light for a 225!!!

To be honest my boat is a bit of a pussycat with the 225 - does 41kts with a 19" 4 blade - prob about 50 something with the right prop. Acceleration is very good though but the hull just seems to cry out for more power - would an extra 75hp REALLY be that much of a handfull??? It seems pretty foolproof at the moment which is great with me driving!!!

Was it lifters in general you were refering to or just the CMC?mine has 10" setback which prob makes things worse.....

No I have a 200xs on the race boat fitted to a Stainless Marine lifter.
I believe them to be the best of all the lifters, and whilst my boat is probably the hardest on equipment it means that I have had the opportunity to test equipment to destruction so I make that judgement with a fair bit of experience!

Your boat should be much easier on equipment being a deeper V etc, but it is not the weight but the power involved that would be my concern - of course the 10" setback will not help things either. As far as the hull is concerned I have no experience of that, so you're on your own with that - I'm sure that is going over the recomended HP for the hull though - what does the CE plate say?

Although there will be a lot more power with a 300xs the weight is a lot less than for example a Suzuki 250hp 4 stroke. Also as you say the hull has a very deep V - the landings are so soft it's amazing so not too much stress there I hope. What I will do is replace the washers on the transom with pieces of angle right across to spread the load better.

No probs with the power - the boat is rated for 2x 300hp so I will be quite a bit short of that!!!

Hope the engine isn't too quiet - love the sound of my Suzuki225 - it's a stunning engine - just want more power.

Weight isn't the issue - it's power and right foot against the lifter!

Being too quiet won't be the issue ............
