40 ft alluminium cat
i have seen in a couple of the archive pictures a few of the goldrush boats, powered by jaguar, my ex father in law bought a 40 ft catamaran painted in brown and gold ,it had a smashed sponson, he had it all rebuilt and sprayed white and blue, and it was then named pegasus, im pretty sure he said he raced it in the cowes classic 1984 or 1985, i believe it ran twin v12 jags , i have some pics i will try to scan and upload, just wondered if boat was still around, or if any one has raced against it, reece

Pretty sure the class II Goldrush cat wasn't 40'. and it was a single engine layout.
That got renamed 'Waterfront' and sat at Hamble point for years.
better pic of Goldrush... (Graham Stevens collection)
I expect Mr Stevens could enlighten us.

Yes Jon the first Goldrush was claas II and 35ft with one Merc engine, but the second Goldrush was a 39ft monohull with 2 Jaguar engine's.
I think the only 40ft cat may be Supercat 40ft two Jaguar's

Goldrush cat info
To be exact the cat was 34ft from stem to transom at keel, plus another 3ft hanging off the back.
Goldrush - 80/81
Pegasus 84/85
Slingshot 87
Waterfront 88
All with 650hp Mercruiser.
Brought tears to Mr.Brooker eyes on many occasions, especially when replacing rivets or bolting the sponsons to the wing. All in a days work for the `T` man.

Dick Strutton ended up owning that. Was gonna get Richard Carr's old 2 valve Lambo's, after he upgraded to 4V, but never came together. Got re-decked by Cougar mid 90's, complete with central canopy. Found it's way to the states and became 'Endangered Species'

Waterfront was/is owned by David Baker - ex Cruiser racer from the early 1980's and who has been racing a Honda powerboat in recent years. I have no idea as to how to contact him but am sure someone on here knows.
We used to pull his leg about Waterfront as he was always going on as to how fast it was but it never left it's dry standing at Hamble Point!!
I do remember Gerv Brazier sinking it during a Press Day in the Western Solent when it was Goldrush. It made the front pages of the Newspapers!!

I have turned over three times in Cats over the years Once in Herm, once in Jersey and going for the fist turn buoy outside St Peter Port in Guernsey.
This though is awesome.
The expression "No Fear" probably started here.
