Totally.
I have just brought an "older" Phantom 21 and in my opinion it looks shit hot and like you say with a few added extras it will look just as good.

Saw a tidy lookin older style P21 in Colwell Bay today, was white with nice blue graphics and a new Merc 200 on the back, looked the nuts and sounded even better when he left!!
Made me feel slightly better about getting the older style...

Wooden stick! The only wooden stick I had was the one my Dad used to beat me to sleep each night; but I was grateful etc, etc, etc...

Back on topic, yes I agree; the older boats often look nicer. This is true of the 'see through screen' types as well.

What kind off lifespan would you expect from a fibreglass boat that had been looked after properly?

I'm no expert but if a boat was well looked after an no damp ever gets into the floor or transom timber i would say it would last indefinatly.

This is an ex runna so there isn't a floor!
Thankfully there is a transom though!
