90hp 150hp or 175hp
I finally ordered an engine yesterday but I'm already having second thoughts I put a dp down on a brand new Jonny 90 2 stroke but the sales rep also offered me a 150 for another £800 on top of the 90 or a 175 for another £1000 on top of the 90.
Come on guy's have I made the right choice?

6 pots
I had a Phantom 16 with 2ltr 6 pot on it, went like stink, but was a handfull.
If I were you I'd go for the 90, or even the 115 Fitch engine seeing your in the "Jonny-Rude" shop.

A 90 'Rude E-TEC would be the ideal engine due to their light weight but they are very expensive. May be worth trying to find one of the last ficht rudes. I am not sure about the 2 stroke johnsons they all seem to sound a bit rough and smoke a bit. Whos the dealer, south coast marine?

Would certainly be intersted to know a price, not for me cos I've already put the money down but it may be of use for one of the other boats.
You say the 2ltr 6 was a handfull, was it because of the power, or the weight or both?
My head is telling me to stick with the 90 but there's a little voice somewhere that keeps saying go for the 175

I'd think a jonny v6 is way too heavy for you to ever be able to achieve a stable set-up on a 17ft ring.
i'd have thought a 90 V4 would be a fast & quite torque boat

I'll sort out the Fitch price tomorrow.
2ltr V6 was a handfull because of the weight hanging on the arse end (I even moved the fuel tank to the front), the power was great but the combination of the two made the streering livley to say the least. "Chine Walk", I topped up with arms like Popeye!
Needless to say, not to many people had the balls to sit in for a blast!

Well that settles it, I'm gonna stick to the 90. Cheers for all the advice guys, you've just saved me a grand£.
Thanks for the offer Wayne, but I'll leave the 115 for now.

I drive a 16ft ring with a 140hp Evinrude. Runs 65mph on flat water.
Very light boat, not for the faint of heart when driving on the edge...
If you want speed : you must have hp and proper setup. No doubt about that...
For more info on my ring : do a search on "16ft ring" on this site... I got some threads posted which could be usefull.
Have a great one
T.
