Advice on Painting Crash Helmet

I have a motor cycle crach helmet which is stamped with the BSI 6658 type A, but it is white. Therefore I need to paint it orange. I understand that certain paints will have a detrimental effect on the outer shell.

Can anyone confirm which type of paint to use - preferably one that I can use easily at home eg in a spray can.

I used the fluorescent orange enamel available from B&Q.

Avoid cellulose paints since the thinners can dissolve the polystyrene foam that protects your head. I also "think" it can damage the shell material on ABS lids - but since yours is an "A" mark, I assume it's a GRP shell.

P.S. Lots of thin coats. The paint shrinks a lot as it dries otherwise.

Best to check with the manufactures first.
I found that my helmet (HJC Sy-Max) could be painted but the "pop-up" visor could not.
Done mine with the 2-pack stuff as I could add a ingredient that alows it to flex without cracking.

And, apparently, the "right" water based paints:
